Chat window pops up and can’t use controls

Really frustrated, constantly happens the chat window pops up and I cannot use controller. It’s gotten me killed. I have tried all controls button etc, and nothing gets rid of it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you kidding me?, this used to happen randomly 3 years ago lmao

Anyways, back then the only way to fix it was to restart though and if memory serves me well, it had something to do with the chat getting desync'd with the server or something like that, so maybe turning off videos/streams/download can help?, getting better latency and what not., assuming that it was like 3~2 years ago.

I’m playing offline lol, I don’t even need the chat. Didn’t realize this was such an old bug.

happening to me now also
I get random UI popups like totally random glyphs in the middle of my screen while playing
happens rarely but when it does, requires using esc key to close (even while using controller)

This still happens even in offline mode with chat disabled. Press esc to get rid of it.

Super late but im having same issue., Quickly opening forge menu fix it, but looking for something permanent.

My suggestion is to mess with your steam controller settings outside of the game. It seems like they did an update, or something did, that changed the way Steam integrates the controller in Windows. This caused Windows to start picking up my controller buttons and screwed with my games until I solved it. Haven't tried LE with a controller but it's worth a shot.

Specifically, I disabled "Enable Steam Input for Xbox Controllers"

The vast majority of games are going to work just fine without Steam middle-manning your controller.
