Are true offline characters still getting lost?
Hi, I read about offline characters disappearing and getting lost, has this problem been fixed now please? Thanks

No, people were reporting this issue still in reviews days ago. Considering the authors haven't managed to fix even server issues for a whole month now, I wouldn't expect a fix for several months to a year from now.

Although I think the reports I saw were mostly about hardcore characters so you may want to try your luck with softcore... even then, there are reports of lost progress and materials.

Offline characters are saved on your own hard drive.

but offline starting the game prompts me to you have to "check for updating the game " this is not realy offline if i have to start the game online to switch into offline mode ? thats not the real meaning of OFFLINE am i wrong here and also in offline mode it opens up an internetlink ...like you play online ?? its very confusing:MonkWave:

Was looking for a thread explaining the "not offline" mode, found this player reporting the loss of his offline character (again) yesterday https://steamcommunity.com/app/899770/discussions/0/6051221782224727350/

I just created an offline character today got it to level 15 and logged off but when I went back It was only showing my character as level 1 and brought me back to the intro.

I have a strong feeling that most people aren't in True Offline and are loading the game in the pre-1.0 "Offline but requires an internet connection" mode.

I have over 100 hours across 4 characters in True Offline and have had 0 rollbacks or vanishing characters.

Over a dozen characters, 200 hours, no lost characters.

Game was in development for 10 years, in early-access for 5, delayed half a dozen times - and all the while they were selling items for real cash in-game and supporter packs too.

It's been out for a month now too!

Obviously they didn't have enough time to iron out minor issues like losing progress :monstertrainhaha:

But remember: all negative reviews are because of server issues at launch (still unresolved, BTW) and not because the game is absolute trash!

Have like 10 chars over lvl 40, havn't experienced any loss progression all offline characters. Doesn't make sense to lose progression unless your game failed to write a sav file somehow.

brought game today played for 90 mins or so in offline mode. Logged on this evening character is Lv1 with starting equipment - not a great first impression

wondering if the people losing progress have there saves being back up in the cloud for steam because only ever played offline even early access legacy toons are still good and not lost saves ever.

Steam cloud is at fault. Blame Steam/Valve

Hi guys I have no issues with log on offline or full offline. In either case you have to make sure Last Epoch is synced with steam. On the Last Epoch library screen next to the Last Epoch start button it should say Cloud Sync "up to date". During gameplay Steam cloud can de-sync. So always make sure before you leave game it is still synced.

In online Offline mode or Full Offline mode the saves are still on steam cloud. Last Epoch does not have complete system localization. Unlike per'se Grim Dawn which has non cloud saves to your actual system.

Also, make sure your Ethernet and or Network Adapter is up to date on your system. Just that one thing alone helps with many issues we see on this forum.

Happy Gaming!

2nd character lost, only played 4 hours - about 2 hours on each - game is totally unplayable. Going to try for refund despite being over the 2 hour mark
