Last Epoch is by far the best ARPG today.

Aside for Diablo 1 and 2 being better for it's time, LE is by far the best ARPG today together with POE, it lacks some aspects, has some balancing issues needing adjustements, bugs that needs fixing and exploits that needs attention.

So why do I Think this game is so good?

I have 38 years of experience in gaming if that means something, from pvp to pve to single player and as someone that has been around alot you get extremely picky to some extent but you also get ( in most cases ) a better understanding in more or less all aspects.

The biggest downside atm with LE is end game and late levels, from 80-90 the game starts to feel "empty" due to you dont get any more points for your skills and each level is really really slow.

What I have found out tho is the loot drop is very different from Diablo for example.
Whatever class you play, loot wont take that into its calculation when it drops,
this means you will get alot of items only useable on other classes,
this is a good thing.
Start exploring other classes/masteries,
with lower lvl uniqes you will lvl faster and faster the more you save up on uniqes.

Every skill having its own talent tree is the trademark of this game,
This means you get to think alot, test alot, theorycraft alot and combine different gear
with different skills and talents and that is IMO the way ANY game should be played.
Following any sort of guide and build for your class is going to ruin the experience and you will most likely be bored out, Mentioning this since basically all of my irl friends follow guides down to every detail and I cant understand why you would ruin the entire concept of playing a game and head over to some website and start reading about the game.

Dont missunderstand me, certain aspect that are complex and hard to understand, ofc you can look up information about that if you get absolutely stuck, like parts of the crafting or legendery potential, but if you are comminig from POE or D4 being a hardcore guide player you will remove 75% of the entire experience, this goes for more or less all games.

Play around, test different ♥♥♥♥, and I promise you this game will be insanely entertaining.

I understand this game is quite deep and complex, there is alot of things to take into consideration when making your own build, but that is the entire point of playing games, training yourself to think, focus and act.

PS: Whoever came up with Runemaster is a genius.

I agree with most Points. It's a good game in it's current state.
The biggest Problem atm is the Fact that you can join the Merchants Guild. Most People tend to follow Guides. They all need specific Build enabling items. As soon as you hit L3 in this Guild ( takes, dk, 1h of Monos) you can buy all (lol) Uniques, and a bit later all Idols in the Game. So you will never have this "Hell yeah" Moment when your desired Unique drops, which is the Essence of an Arpg oO.
Then you have reached the Point that you can faceroll the entire Game. (Hello Ward Builds)
Sure if u want to reach Corruption 3000 you can have Fun with Minmaxing and Crafting.
I'm sure that most Players won't do that.
As an oldschool Arpg Player I can say, as soon as u have the Possibility to buy desired Items, the Game will bore you :(

The game is the best ARPG I'm playing at the moment, GD for me is probably the best I've played over all.

LE is great but my god it has a long long way to go.

I think there are still lots of features missing to be the BEST ARPG but it definitely has the potential and is on the right track

Maybe in 5 years or so to fix all the bugs and add the content. But unless they do a complete rewrite of the campaign it will always be a baby version compared to Grim Dawn's engaging and interesting campaign. And by then we will have Titan Quest 2, and Grim Dawn 2 if we are lucky.

Runemaster is probably the coolest thing I've played in an arpg. Only thing that my challenge my own opinion on that would be rogue from MH before they changed her and got rid of mole man.
Copy raid boss skills? Check
Brawler, caster, summoner whatever? Yes please

Can't wait to see when the do a pass over the forgotten forge guard. Its long overdue. That and some other masteries

It would have to work to be having a shot at being the best. Yet each and every time the game doesn't. Half the time group members don't show up, you have to do endgame quests several time, despite being in a party together. lag spikes are common.

A friend of mine had their character die but could move and loot. I can't play my shaman with my friends necro, because his wraith bugs out trying to eat my minions... the list goes on and on...

And the dev is more concerned about leaderboards (see the survey) than bug fixing and making underperforming classes viable.

It's a sad joke.

I wouldnt call it the best because the other games are for clear audiences while Last Epoch wants to be playaber for as many as possible.

Diablo3 onwarts = Casual Players.
Grim Dawn = For Invested players
PoE = For the Hardcore players
Titan Quest = High likely the game that got people in the genre together with Diablo

Meanwhile Last Epoch isnt hard or complex enough to compete with the PoE audience but also easy enough Diablo pleps can play it without being boringly easy. Last Epoch sits right in the middle. And Grim Dawn and Titan Quest sit right in the middle between Last Epoch,PoE and Diablo.

If you thing Last Epoch is the best then you are the audience the game was aiming for. Simple as that.

Yeah i found that dissapointing aswell.

I loved searching for those Shrines in hidden areas in Grim Dawn or some hidden extra chests behind a destroyable wall.
