Hamachi / GameRanger / Anything?

Hello,

So I've read that we cannot play multiplayer thruu GameSpy right now because they're doing some stuff with Steam etc. but back in the days when the game released there were issues too and we had to use GameRanger (and Hamachi ? Never tried.).

Anyway it worked perfectly so can anyone confirm that we can still do that TODAY to play online with friends ?

Yes, I've used GameRanger recently and it works perfeclty.

hamachi warks the same as gameranger ?

Not really, Hamachi only creates a "bridge".. Gameranger starts your game automaticly and connects you and your room to a game etc; it's way easier if you don't really know what you're doing.

works perfectly with Hamachi, you just have to follow the guide you can find in this community hub.

- have hamachi
- Have a Hamachi network
- Creat a Borderlands "Windows Shortcut" on your desktop and in properties of this one, give him the Hamachi IP of the created virtual network.
- give this same IP to 3 of your friends and Lets go looting like a fool !!

Looks like GameRanger is working stock for a friend, however I've had no luck. I'm running Win8.1 and have tried everything from port forwarding via my router w/ GameRanger to a Hamachi VPN.... no luck. Honestly, I'm to the point of giving up, which kinda is sad because with 1 month+ to the new BL (pre-purchased, :), heh) I was looking forward to playing through the first one w/ a friend since both of us jumped on-board directly to BL2.

If anyone reading this feels like helping, any advice would be appreciated, however basically he opens the game in GameRanger and it takes him directly to the "room" once the game launches. Mine just sits at the "Press Enter" screen and even opening it and search for lan games is not productive. Nothing I've tried works. /sigh.

I'm using Tunngle right now in LAN mode, works ok, but be warned, some achievments aren't unlocking, but most are. I'd give Hamachi a try first if I were doing it over again.

The last time I tried Gameranger does not support Win8(.1) for Borderlands. The steam multipayer should be up before the end of the year (hopefully sooner) though.

Before the end of the year is better than nothing... Already pre-ordered the "Pre-sequel" but was hoping the play through the first one with a friend since I joined the story late (just played Borderlands 2 for the first time 2 mo's ago at the recommendation of a GameSpot employee who was dead on). Honestly just trying to enjoy the lore & story with a friend rather than alone.

If you want to get some more lore look up the Borderlands: Origin comics.
