Best solo class for solo play cause I am alone
So what class do you recommend for a first time player soloing the game?

Or if my googleing is anything to go by, are all the classes fine except for the berserker?

I was thinking soldier or siren, soldier because guns and stuff and siren because lightning and stuff

Choose Siren over Soldier. Her phasewalk ability is hella useful.

I found Roland to be the easiest due to the ammo regen, so good for reckless firing, and healing coupled with the turret effectively being another player shooting at the enemies.
Mordecai was the next easiest for me as his hawk means more drops and again effectively another player attacking the enemies.

take them all for a spin.

My vote goes for the siren aswell. One of the classes I laughed with the most. If it is ammo regen you want you can get SMG ammo regen from siren class mod. Phasewalk + stupid accuracy & DPS on SMGs... Just wait till you find a double anarchy violet (4x bullets, especially good in close combat/big bosses) and/or a Hellfire (4x incendiary, every shot leaves fire DoT) with 10+ fire rate.

They're all viable solo. It depends on your playstyle.

Lilith/Siren with a SMG regen class mod wielding a Double Anarchy, and a Hellfire is the most overpowed setup in the game.

Siren is the most OP. Phasewalk is great to have, not just for enemies, but for getting places quicker. I do agree you should try them all at some point, though. They are all great.

I am not so much after over powered classes, just wondering if anyone are more geared to co-op play.

I am thinking I will go for Siren, it seem to be winning.

yup. use Lilith aka Siren Class.... i just finished the game and going for the dlcs now.... Just upgrade Lilith skills on health when doing phasewalk etc....you can use any weapon at early stage (SMG/sniper recommended).... but when you were able to get Lilith Mercenary mod with SMG ammo regen then its a no brainer just use it all the way.... you can even up the skill on firepower with it.... o/p even on solo... :csgoa:

Well I have started playing. So far so good. Would have kept playing but I am sleepy.

Even recorded... cause why not :P

Any suggestions or mistakes made in the first 30 mins?

You're eight years late to the party. It's never too late to start. :bandit:

Just a small tip for you:

If you hold your "pickup" key on a group of collectibles, for example ammo, you will pick up the whole group of them.

For equipable items like guns, granades, and classmods, holding your pickup key on those items will make you instantly equip them, bumping whatever you already have in that slot into your inventory.

You're doing good though. Keep it up!

Siren. Work on finding the class mod that boosts damage for SMG's, then get the best stat SMG's in Shock, Fire, and Caustic. If you know the enemies weakness, you can melt most pretty easy. I use Siren against Crawmerax. Use the pillars to your advantage. Come around corner and shoot Craw until just as you are about to get hit, go behind the other pillar and hide until phase blast resets. Crawmerax drops a ridiculous amount of weapons and makes it easy to keep upgrading. Check out youtube if you need a demo on how to do it.

well I am now level 10, just worked out what the whole second wind, fight for your life stuff means. I thought it was just a final few seconds you can get a few shots off. But you get back up if you get a kill before you die.

anything else like this i should know?

Borderlands is filled with special spots that are worth discovering, as is looking for all the broken down Claptraps! Each Claptrap that you help will reward you with a small inventory upgrade, and trust me, you're gonne want and need those!
