Hope this helps someone!
Honestly at this point just tell him to dual boot Ubuntu or SteamOS which is free vs boot camp, because gaming on Apple already is rougher then Linux and it's going to get worse from here on in as Steam is pushing devs to support Linux instead of Mac and building WINE directly into the Steam Client with DXVK for Linux users to play existing Windows games. I game almost 100% on Linux, only games I have issue with use Battleye Anti cheat which do non standard Windows things anyways. Civ V has has a native Linux build that runs really well, for games with out Linux builds just enable SteamPlay in your Steam settings will let you play 90% of Windows games through Steams built in WINE implementation (only for Linux user).
Dual boot basics same for linux distros including SteamOS...

just use the Apple DiskUtility to shrink your main partion last I checked it was still in Mac OS version up to High Serria and more then likely still in the latest Mac OS.

Thanks to those guys, I managed to make it work. Cheers mates !
- Me (running a Mac, Mojave OS) and my friend (running a Windows) both downloaded AND activated the legacy mode (I am not certain whether or not it is necessary for Win users to do so as only the Mac version was updated though)
- I, as the host of the online multiplayer game, disabled the Gods and Kings extension.
It worked fine.
Problems :
- Disabling the G&K extension won't disable any game's mechanics due to the BNW extension using it, but only disable civs : I believe they are the following : The Netherlands, the Celts, the Maya, Carthage, Byzantium, the Huns, Austria, Ethiopia, and Sweden
- I encountered crashes launching solo games
This is some serious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I've tried reaching out and requesting this be fixed to 2k games, who instantly replied back to take it up with Aspyr (which implies that they deal with this issue frequently). I then reached out to Aspyr and received an automated response and haven't heard anything more in over a month.
If you're reading this and want this issue fixed, please reach out to Aspyr via their support page: https://support.aspyr.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and let them know that there are still many players who want this game to remain playable.
Une aide ne serait pas de trop svp
