List the Civilizations Alphabetically please!
It'd be much better if there was an option to have the Civs listed alphabetically in the selection menu, especially with so many of them now. Sure, I know Napoleon is France and Ghandi is India, but if I wanna play some other civ, I'm sick of having to look through every entry instead. Scrolling to the bottom of the list for Zulu would be nice instead of finding China there, for example.

Well, the leaders are sorted alphabetically, so I guess if you memorized which leader went with which Civ, you can find what Civ you want to choose easily. The Civs are listed alphabetically here http://civilization.wikia.com/wiki/Civilizations_(Civ5) if it helps.

Um, yes, well, that's exactly the problem though, having to memorize and match the leaders with the Civs.

Exactly! I agree. The civ names are familiar to everyone, the leader names are not. Many leader names are quite hard to pronounce and remember. Civ is a game about civilisations, the leaders are secondary. I want to play the Incans, not Pacahakawotnot. I want to play Siam, not Ramahamadingdong... :trazz:

So what if it's in the help menu? I want it to be alphabetical in the game start selection.

I think memorizing leaders as a form to improve my knowledge on history. I find cool to know who these people are.

Nice names there :D.

I agree this would be a nice feature - it's not about knowledge, it's about being able to find the civilisation you want more quickly in setting up a game.

While on the subject of UI type things, the city in-production screen needs to display tourism along with the other outputs, and the city state window should allow you to browse all known city states with scrolling arrows.

How is that the "end of story"?! I said I want them alphabetically in the game setup screens, not in some help menu!

Its obivously not going to happen if it hasnt happened by now.
If you are as smart as Gendo Ikari you would be able to put one and one together after just a couple of games. Setting up a Civ game takes what, 1-3 mins at the most? Then you spend the next 2 - 3 days playing. You are worrying about this insignificant part of the game way too much. Make a print out if you are so impared that you need one. Maybe someone would make a mod for it one of these days. I wouldnt hold my breath though.

I do recommend spending time browsing through the Civilopedia. It is surprisingly informative on history and geography for what's basically a game manual

Yup, keep apologizing for and excusing this clearly bad design. As if it was somehow better to order things by what fewer people are familiar with than what the majority of people would easily recognize.

The fall patch added 'click to move' or 'click to select' buttons to the great work browser - they are not against tweaking the UI, and there are plenty of other places it could use tweaks. This one would seem a no-brainer with a very similar fix 'sort by leader' or 'sort by civ' - done. Almost easier to fix than to defend its not being there .. but by the devs not us ><.

Im with the OP here. Ive played a good number of games but often forget alot of the asian leaders like siamish guy. Here is an annoying comparasin, Rome2. You can customize your agents/generals with abilities rpg style but they removed the tech tree so you wont know what to invest in........"oh but its easy just go into the encyclopedia" NOT good enough.

You can go "oh but its just a 1min trip to the encylopedia" or "well take time to remember then" but remember that this is a game and its about convenience when it comes to these things. We shoudlnt have to come home sit down for a nice game and not play becuase we have to study the spelling, pronounciation and history of the leader of the nation you'd like to play with so that you dont forget.

You may not be like everyone else either. Some of us like to play with random civs so i wont always get siam and since games take days to finish.....ill play mabey 4 games a month (i cant play everyday) and ill nvr get siam. But when i do wanna play a sort of regional game with thier historially relevent neighboors i shoudl be able to without going to any external window for ease of reference. Simple convenience is the name of the game here especially in tbs games where the game is already steeped in statistics windows and number values.

It may seem like im blowing it out of proportion but come on it seems like a simple thing to add. It reminds me of Simcity 2013 with its lack of lobby filters or COH2 with its removal anihilation games as an option for random matchmaking.

Yup, and not to mention when it comes to multiplayer games when (depending on resolution) you might get just a tiny drop down menu which shows 5 Leaders/Civs at a time for you to scroll through. Annoying to have to go through it all cause you know what Civ you want but not which direction to even start scrolling. It is indeed a minor inconveneince, but again, it would just be nice and make more sense.
