Windows 10 Issues
Some users are experiencing problems with the game (and indeed lots of other games) after upgrading to Windows 10. The following steps have resolved it for most users:

Make sure you have the most up to date drivers available from the GPU maker. This means Intel, AMD or nVidia, not your system OEM. OEMs are rarely up to date with the drivers they provide.

Check that Windows hasn't mysteriously made parts of your user folder ("My documents" etc) read-only, for mysterious and unexplained reasons.

Either uninstall and reinstall the game, or verify game files.

Make sure the executable is not set to any compatibility mode, or run as administrator. If that doesn't work, try enabling those options instead (but they shouldn't be necessary.

Some people have reported needing to run one or more of the redists that come with the game affected (such as a vc redist and directx); you may have to select a 'repair' option when you run them.

There is a separate pinned thread about the error 2 problem after the Win10 anniversary update. That appears to be a purely Steam issue with the update, and reporting it on these forums (after all the many who have so far) isn't going to resolve it any faster.

My way of making it work was by runnung Steam as an administrator then playing Civ. But something changed in the past 36 hours that Civ run very slow at times, usually down to 0 fps for several seconds. And now just in the past 2 hours crashes at the load menu. Any idea on what to do?

I guess we should blame game developers. Windows 10 test builds were available for almost a year. They could test their products, like most software vendors did. Hope negative reviews from Win10 players will drop sales and return devs their minds.

When I play the game on windows 10 there is no audio, I've tried tinkering with my computer's audio settings to no avail. If anyone knows anything that might help, please let me know, thanks.

I'm not migrated to Windows 10 yet, and I just downloaded the game for the first time. I've tried updating and validating everything, and I still can't get past the opening Civ V screen. I'm following this thread intently hoping to get an idea.

I have a problem...
Game starts with minimal graphic settings. When I change it and reboot the game settings stays the same. Reinstall didn't help. Before I installed win10 I had not any problem.
Sorry for my English

I found a solution. I don't know why, but folder Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 5 was for administrators only. I've changed permissions for Home group users and it worked for me.
I hope it helps for someone else
