I'm looking for an Earth map that has true city names based on location...
such as what was found in Rhye's and Fall of Civilization for Civ IV. Do any exist for Civ V?

Not true start locations. True city names so that when you found cities it's accurate based on location.
Try Noel's earth map or not yet another earth map pack

Tried them. Both don't have true city names based on location.

Not sure something like that really exists. If you do find it though, I'd be grateful if you sent me a link.

There's a map for Civ IV and VI that does this so I'm wondering if there's one for Civ V that's all -_-

'doubt it, but if you find it...
You mean every city you build is automatically receiving its real name on Earth, according to its location.

That's nearly impossible to implement. Plus, you can't compare the globe vs maps in civ v since city sizes are way bigger in civ v, or you'd need such a huge map the game would be unplayable. Try putting dc and phildelphia, NY, Boston etc on a very large map effectively, they'd be practically on too of eachother.

Wait, Civ is a game where you (and the AI and the other players) create your own earth history, different every time you play it.
To have real city names according to the real life positions, you must have a real life map, first (every game the same map, not random maps, which is one of the strong features of Civ games and greatly enhances replay value). Then you must build the cities in special locations, no freedom of playing, Civ gameplay becomes very bad.
And what clthomps comment said.

Agreed. If you remove all exploration and know the map and where all civs are that makes it kind of easy and removes a big chunk of what makes the game fun.

Accurate Earth Mod is what are you are looking for. It names cities based on where they are settled i.e if Mongolia settled a city in Australia where Sydney is it is named Sydney.
