Damage vs downed G2 and G3?
Just curious: do G2 or G3 take any meaningful damage when they are downed? Meaning when G2 takes a knee for the crane, and when G3 opens up his heart for you twice before it becomes his only hit point.

I ask because I see some videos where some "pros" don't shoot at all when downed, or they do shoot/knife when down.

I haven't had much time to test myself, but I didn't notice any difference in the final G3 form between shooting when he is down, or not shooting him beforehand.

Just wondering if there's any concrete benefit to shooting them while down, or if you are just wasting your ammo. Thanks!

It is pointless to shoot G2 when he is down, you are suppose to rush to the crane immediately when this happens. A lot of people just knife G3 when he is down because of a bug with the knife that deal a lot more damage then their guns at higher frame rates.

Real men use Magnum or SMG. Can't wait for this to be patched out. Same for the infinite knife being enabled for S+ runs.

The infinite knife means very little for S+ runs you will find out when you actually try them. This is because you aren't usually killing zombies but staggering them and passing them by. For boss usage you will easily find enough knifes to deal with the bosses along the way in your runs or other resources depending on boss. If you spare your Magnum/SMG ammo for just bosses (which frankly there is far more than enough ammo to do so) it is basically the same cheese. A single weapon easily obliterating a boss (esp SMG because it is stupid powerful with a rather ludicrous amount of ammo available for it).

Gotchyah on G2, I figured it was pointless to shoot him.

But does shooting downed G3 make his final form (when the heart eyes are exposed) faster to kill?

They take normal damage, as if you shoot him in a non-critical area.
Most people on 60+ fps simply use the knife in those cases, since you can do large damage thanks to their gigantic hitboxes.
G3 in the chest eyes takes the usual bonus damage when he is kneeling, but doing damage there will reduce his kneeling time substantially. Only recommended if you are not doing the knife exploit.

I dunno, I sacrificed the odd minute here and there to knife-to-death certain zombies in certain high traffic areas that I'd be running through several times just to be on the safe side.
Still got my S+ Hardcore time threshold.

I was very appreciative of being able to use that :P

G2 is worth shooting, especially knifing (120 fps) when downed. If he takes enough damage, you don't need to use the crane 2 times, only 1.

G3 is not worth shooting (only for popping eyes), but knifing (60 or 120 fps both are good) when downed.

i think with G2, as long as you wait until after the 2nd time he is downed and claire says "oh i could use the crane", then you can 1 crane kill him. (i just shot him until he was downed, waited, shot him again when he got up and then did the crane which gave me the achievement)

So G3 has a specific amount of HP.

You can kill him early however if you put him into the animation where he walks over and tears down the column he is invincible during this state. You can still deal dmg during this but you can never put his hp below 0. After the animation is over you need only deal the remaining dmg to him be in 1dmg or 1000dmg ect.

So you can fast cycle him (ie kill him before the column thing) but you can kill him during it (though still dmg him)

G3 has 15000 HP, yes, and not invincinble during the panel rip-off animation, but has a health gate. You can damage him and reduce him to 1 HP, but not below. Similarly, DoT cannot kill him, you must do direct damage to get rid of the last hit point (so you cannot rely on burning/acid beyond their initial impact damage).

Same, I never used knife for this reasons on bosses.
