I think the key is just to play without winning in mind, there are other games for that. I for once find the sometimes catstrophically lethal randomness of its physics entertaining in their own right.

More like they enjoy old school gaming (where you couldn't look up solutions), in a very advanced game.

I'll resort to the wiki after I find an item a few times and can't figure out what to do with it, but I definitely don't like spoiling the game too much. (I've only got 100 runs, so just getting started). Most of the fun in this game, to me , is figuring things out. Once in a while it works.

But, I also haven't had a "victory"

People who use wikis and walkthroughs are just speedrunning the time to they get bored with a game. Imagine you read a wiki for your life and knew everything that was coming. What a boring way to live.

I want to be clear: I'm not complaining. I love that this game will kill you without mercy. I love that this game has convoluted esoteric secrets. in other words, I AM the no life loser who enjoys this game

Meh, I played and beat it before looking up the wiki to do extra content. The basic straightforward path isn't that hard.

honestly once you have a pretty good idea of whats going on and get a bit of luck with RNG its really not that difficult to make it to the end , with a couple good wands and a few decent perks you can very quickly smash your way down through the floors , and the default end boss isnt too tough , what IS hard is if you want to start actually exploring the game and learning secrets . . . then you could be there for years and still not figure everything out

Mayhaps a you problem? I scour wikis like a no-life goblin yet I still come back to this game and many others as well.

Even better, the skills, knowledge, and wisdom I've built up from doing so has bled into my real life and has assisted me in doing cracked stuff in other games. I've gained immense understanding and I'm always grateful for it - especially from this game.

If you want to savor your time with this game over a long period, that's alright, but why criticize others who aren't necessarily harmed from the act of learning alone? Perhaps there is a different aspect of the problem that would benefit the attention.
