"Edit wands everywhere" or "explosion immunity" perks are always on my mind for long, exploration runs. If I don't see those within the first 3 mountains and I've gotten nothing else good, I'll start playing recklessly for fun.
To be honest, I almost completely agree with this.
Sometimes a regular "play 'till I die" run is nice from time to time, but I generally prefer to get a head start when it comes to runs where I try to explore the east/west worlds, or go to
new game+
2. I try to save the powerups and skip the first traits if they suck. Fix the wands, then go through the mines as usual, this time shooting. If the second traits suck I buy a reroll, if I can't afford it I loop back to the mines via the chasm past the lava lake and dig until I have 1K-2.5K gold (sometimes while watching/listening to something in another tab).
Since the 1st mountain was accessed the reroll still costs 200 for some reason. So I cycle through the 1st and 2nd trait it until it hits 1600 or I get something decent (usually looking for fire/explosion/electric/melee immunity equivalents, novel combo, and/or 'Vamp.' 'Tinker Everywhere' is overrated if you have the mobility to return to the mountains.)
Otherwise I move on just to activate any leftover spells I unlocked until I die, usually without the patience to explore the basic areas "safely".
I try not to restart if i get nothing good by the snow level, but that happens more often than not. Noita usually just says "what are wands?".
2. Get nothing that can dig soft materials in before the 3rd floor.
