xbox controller not working

I have an Xbox controller, not the newest gen but last gen, and it doesn't seem to work in this game. There's not even any options for controller in the options menu. Anyone have the same issue, or have a fix? And yes, i play many games on PC (newer) like Elden ring, and have had zero issue's detecting my controller.

I have the same problem but with the ps4 controller. My guess is that it just doesn't work with old gen controllers but I am not entirely sure.

Hope that's not the case. Interesting because to my knowledge it doesn't utilize any new features of next gen controllers.

you guys have to activate steam inputs for controller, unless it wont work. also be prepared that steam forces you to use xbox prompts

Do it do this through Steam? Or in game?

right click on the game in your steam libary > properties > controller > activate steam input. u need to restart the game after u did this. (in case your game is running right now)

Upper left corner: Steam > Settings > Controller > slide Steam Input for Xbox to activated

I was having issues doing a grand art on an xbox controller and just had to press G on the keyboard. Does this fix the problem the steam input thing?

I went to the game, right click properties and enabled xbox controller. I went to steam settings, went to controller and enabled xbox. Still not working on my controller. I think I have last gen, not the most recent. Is that just not compatible?

Dualsense doesn't work too. Even after activation of everything in steam

Why does this kind of thing keep happening?
For me, every controller worked with 'Granblue Fantasy Relink.'

But controllers didn't work with 'Diablo IV, MW III', especially 'MW III'. 'Diablo IV' only worked with DualShock 4, DualSense. And crashed like Hell. So I cursed 'ActivisionBlizzard' so much.

This thing didn't happen in old days. Controllers were always working, normally there were no serious errors. but these days, crashing, incompatible controllers keep happening. I paid the price, but I don't get services, I can't enjoy, I don't get what I paid for.

Oh, 'MW III' was a nightmare and it gave me a trauma.
I want to get the last weapon of Season 1, I got every other items on Battle Pass, there's only one left.
I wanna play the game, but it became hard for me to start the game again. I don't wanna experience crashes again. And I don't wanna see incompatible controllers anymore.

It's because the game uses native Steam Input API. Input's always going to be problematic unfortunately. Tales of Arise similarly uses the native API :-\
