If you have the "real" Ultimate Edition, you have different depots (= a different game) than the HB-supplied "fake", standard, Ultimate.
With that in mind, I assume/guess that ownership checking will notice that your installed depot (real Ultimate) is completely different from the owned depot (fake Ultimate with or without DLC) and patch it accordingly before letting you launch.
The DLC depots contain, well, nothing:

f.ex. https://www.gamebillet.com/control-ultimate-edition
was worried id waste money on a key and steam will just say you already own this and eat the key..
i did not uninstall the game first*
on PC went to help>steam support>remove control permanently and then redeemed 3rd party key for 'CONTROL: ULTIMATE EDITION'
Rang up as 'Control Retail (ROW)' which scared me no mention of ULTIMATE but its all good.
DLC is showing as owned now, Achievements intact
files are validating [on steamdeck]
>now 'updating' (mb redownloading the whole game 22.5GB, unclear)
>now 'verifying'
>now 'launching'>continue game>saves resuming as expected
So a pretty MESSY process [never had to perma-delete a game from library just to redeem it again seconds later] but it worked out.. i guess??? [payed 12 for humble monthly then 8 for another key]
*uninstall might of saved time with the validating/verifying, but was worried about losing local save, probably/definitely in the cloud anyway.
The games use different file manifests and that is GOING to cause problems.
Humble is the only source for the standard edition keys. Someone was just reselling standard edition humble keys as ultimate edition via cdkeys.
Congrats, you got ripped off.
CDkeys isn't a marketplace like ebay or G2A. It wasn't "someone" selling it to him it was the website itself.
If you got it from CDkeys and your purchase history on the cite indeed says it's the ultimate edition while you only unlocked the standard edition then try contacting their customer support. From what I've seen people generally get decent results from that, when they contact the customer support.
Next time you should maybe consider sticking to authorized 3rd party websites instead.
Where ever cdkeys got the keys got them from humble's key set.
They. Got. Scammed.
