That's a bummer!
It'll become clear soon, once we get to the ███████████.
IF I remember correctly (BIG if...)
I think there are a handful of documents that are related ro eacother that kind of fill-in SOME of the missing gaps. Like by reading a little bit of A and B you get a fuller picture as to what happened. But only a couple.
And another document or two references mission one of the NPCs you meet discusses.
It's the point, the ambiguity of so many things without real answers is what Control is based around.
However, to satisfy your need to know might I suggest the SCP Foundation? Much of what control is was inspired by that creative website and much of the cases files and information in it are presented in a similar fashion and, more importantly, unredacted. It doesn't contain the game stuff, but it really cool reading and can suck you in.
The typical form of writing in this wiki - is article imitating classified document, with censored parts. It follows such template: codename of the object, codename of hazard level, instructions for containment and related procedures, followed by description of an object, history of the first encounter with it, and incident reports.
