Getting Overrun (Campaign)
Those Final Missions in the campaign are kind of pain. At least the first one with Stoutheart. The Loth campaign seems to be as follows:

Try to run and explore. Oh look 3-4 Loth wielders. Kill 1. Kill 2. Let me rebuild, oh wai... not enough gold let me expan... No.. 2 other Wielders.

Oh wai.. the first two are back... crap I only restored like 15% of my units.. oh crap they are just running through taking all my stu... oh man they not only respawned in 4 turns but back at full strength wtf?

Yeah is that the whole point of the final scenarios? If so... its kinda impossible to manage.

Also the faery upgrades cost only web so its basically free in that mission

These campaign missions seem to favor picking battles and being mobile on the map. Frankly the mobility upgrade for wielders might be a must have. Best I can tell, the way to.hanfle stoutheart 4 is to either kite and wear down loth, or grab all the free units you get and go for an immediate sucker punch against that one city to the north. Either way, once you have that north city you have essentially won the mission. You'll deal with some wielders still but as long as you hold that one large city they won't be able to make large armies and the final boss, while very dangerous and well equiped, doesn't move.
Initiative is also must-have. troop movement or haste magic in combination with high initiative makes sure you hit (or cast) first and, consequently, hard.

Honestly i'm new to the game and this mission has me considering setting it back down.
I was looking forward to this game as soon as I saw it cause i'm a HOMM3 junkie so its kind of a bummer.
But this game seems built to punish turtle game play. And The balance is all over the place.
Maybe ill check back in a few months and see if its been smoothed out.
