Yet one more thing the old Hitman games did a lot better.
Why would you want everything unlocked from the start? Part of the fun is unlocking items so you can look forward to using them later to see how it shakes up the level for you when you redo it.
There is a challenge for Sniper kills only and you can do them suit only, silent assassin. So yes a suppressed sniper earlier in the game would be nice. Instead of alerting everything around you with it.
It's not about unlucking stuff, it's about essential stuff being blocked away behind a mastery level. This is even worse when you consider the lockpick is not a basic tool...
Honestly you can do any mission SASO without bringing items, it's just harder so really no item is essential.
The silenced sniper is by no means an essential item. It's required for a small number of challenges, and a silenced sniper isn't required for those as an unsilenced one will also work as a sniper.
Those sniper challenges do not require SASO, and they typically can not be done without a body found at long range
SASO + sniper at the same time typically requires you sneak close up to the target, at which point you could have used any weapon and you don't really get the satisfaction of using the sniper
If you just complete the sniper challenge ~ as it's lsited and from long range your only requirement is no non targets and you not be spotted, they aren't meant to be SASO
I remember hitting level 11 after a single playthrough. A lot of the challenges overlap, so a little save-loading and you can easily wipe out 70% of the challenges in only one or two playthroughs and a small amount of planning.
