Phenom 2 not supported!
I am not able to start any of the new Hitman 2 maps, but all the legacy ones work fine. As soon as an episode loads, game crashes to desktop. This reeks of denuvo and their godforbidden SSE instructions that AMD phenom II CPU's aren't equipped to handle . I guess This game is staying in the shelf till I buy the Ryzen 2700X in a month...

My system spec:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
RAM: 16 GB DDR3
GFX: Nvidia 980 GTX MSI 4G

Crash Log as well below:

**EDIT** ioi_jonasm, hitman dev confirmed that a specific code which he incorporated to be used in Hitman 2 levels is causing the crash on Phenom CPU's and NOT Denuvo. Here is the link to his comment:

https://www.hitmanforum.com/t/hitman-2-content-is-crashing-on-phenom-2-cpus/26335/25?u=mallikarjun_ganesh

Hope a fix is coming soon!

**UPDATE** The fix is here and now the game runs flawlessly on my Phenom II X6 1100T with 980 GTX, getting 60 fps and finally enjoying the game! Bring it Sean Bean!

yep same here... only I have the Nvidia GTX 980ti... the missions of hitman 1 work (poor optimisation and lag as f*) going to wait till monday and if no solution I'll refund...

I really don't want to refund as the only thing i'll lose is the 4 day early start.. this is a great game but that is no reason the devs shouldn't support stalwart processors like Phenom series. This is even more relevant since the minimum spec lists Phenom 4 in official description. Hope they release a fix or a workaround. I really don't want to do the whole Intel SDK workaround which will work but at 2 fps.

Shouldn't be something that a recompile of the game wouldn't fix. These kinds of issues are rarely caused by Denuvo going by the fact that very few Denuvo protected titles actually run into these kinds of issues. Soulcalibur VI, for example, is a recent game protected by Denuvo that doesn't have any form of SSE4 requirements.

Probably developer oversight as usual.

It would be an outright blunder than an oversight at this point if they specifically mention support for a Phenom 4 but are caught not having actually beta tested this. Yes, this should be fixable as there are previous titles which provided Phenom support after community feedback like Final Fantasy XV.

Can we get a statement on this please?

If you want an official statement try reporting the problem on the official game forums, the devs are more active there. I would assume by the lack of developper activity here that valve manage reports from users but that devs dont or barely check what is being said here.

Someone else gave the link in another topic I'll post them here too.

Thank you for the reference, I will post there. I've also found the OP post in the technical support thread you linked, so I hope they are aware. Seems I have the same issue

Yeah i've posted at all the relevant places, so far I've tried changing graphics settings, reinstalling drivers, validating files via steam multiple times. But the fact that the legacy levels are working flawlessly and insta crash on Hitaman 2 levels points this towards the SSE instructions issue. I hope they release a patch before official release as now I feel like I paid top dollar to beta test their game before 13th.

Im playing on a laptop toaster and the game works "just" fine.
So if there is a problem, it is not with your rigs guys, hopefully they fix this with a soon upcoming patch.

Your logic is faulty when people with the same family of CPU are complaining about the exact same behavior, and even the memory locations line up in the reports...

The second half of your statement hopefully comes to fruition very soon.

Phenom II.... do they run modern games well? Curious i used to have one but that was in 2009

Not really, Hunter. It bottlenecks my 970 pretty hard and any game that's even remotely CPU dependant struggles hard on my system. Black Ops 4 was ~30-45 fps, Hitman/2 about 25-45, depending on crowd size. Runs at a solid 60 on the ICA maps, it's just NPCs are really CPU demanding.

Didn't have any problem with Hitman 1, got a solid 60 on most places, Phenom 2's albeit old, aren't complete trash. But the real reason for the post is that a Phenom 2 x6 is well over their stated minimum rec of Phenom x4.
