Such a shame that Race 4 has the ugliest ships out of the 4 XD
They look like they're held together with tape and bailing wire
Any race can be switched with a day of training.
Find one that you either enjoy the ideology - or just enjoy the character creation. Amarr toons can have hoods.
TBH i've based my char choices on ship designs. Amar tend to look like flying slugs, Caldari look like cylon ships and mimi looks like something a 3 year old made out of mechano. I've always gone gallente cause their ships seem to have more variety in design and looking good. that's not to say the other races don't have good looking ships, since that's a subjective thing. But for me it was always Gallente, that and the Gallente have a lot of bonuses to drones
question or comment?
Be aware that your race DOES NOT effect your ships you can fly. The skills are not tied to a race so u can use whatever u want with a bit of traning.
No, this isn't true anymore. All skills for flying are now racial, so to fly caldari crusier you have to cross train the caldari cruiser skill. What the race choice does is decide what you start with. for example if you go Caldari then you start with a significant boost in caldari ship skills
ok anyone can learn the skills to learn to fly anything.
i started aa week or so ago as a gallentian andim in a caladari destroyer now, so how can skills for flying be racial?
When you start a character your given a racial bost depending on the race you start. So if you go Gallente you get Gallente racial skills for ships. If you go Caldari you get a bonus to Caldari ships.
To learn to fly another races ships you have to learn THEIR particular skills. Cross training on your first account after only a week is pretty stupid, since your wasting the booster period, and the extra time it takes to learn the skills needed is wasted. Your better off picking the race of the ships you want to fly and then focus on it. To many newcomers make the mistake of thinking that getting into a ship means they can fly it. Getting into the ship is the first step, you then need to be able to fit it properly and have the support skills to support it.
Sticking with one race while you work on that makes more sense since it's more time efficient. This is especially true in the bigger ships, such as the T2 variants.
Sp yes, while it's true you can fly almost anything in the game, if your willing to spend the time on getting there. For beginners it's better to start off with the race they want to fly rather than cross training
Also.. Other than the initial 2x level skills in racial frigate and a couple other skills that would take like 8m to train that you start with... not really getting anything out of that there.. , there is absolutely no bonus to flying your own races ships. All the weapon/ship skills of the same level and type of all factions train at the same speed as one another regardless of your race or faction.
Yes, obviously training towards one type of factions ships is better than spreading out yourr skills amongst others, but that has nothing to do with your race. Just your choice of ships you wish to work with.
Gallente and Caldari are as different as I once thought. The Gallente could be seen as very "American" in terms of Diplomacy, democracy and such. while Caldari is a state Dictatorship but one that benefits it's people hugely. Althought the battle of Caldari Prime was a costly defeat.
Two sides of a different coin but the only different would be in background - which has no affect on Gameplay at all.
While I think it's important to establish what you want to do as early as possible, I think it's equally as important to find an "easy" way to get ISK that you feel comfortable with so you can fund ships and such. Courier jobs (which I was REALLY hoping to specalise in) are sadly, not worth it. Mostly because They are set up to have insane payments if you lose the cargo. and thus - just easy targets.
I do find blaster Frigates fun though :3 Might go for a Megathron blaster and see how that works out in the future. As much as I like Caldari ships (and I'll spec into it as a third faction) I like Amarrian ships for their designs and Laserz (just not for their religious crap and such) Misslie boats aren't my thing but I don't like the Minmatar "junk" ships as they are called.
I really miss the game though - EvE had something about it that just connected with me. I'll be looking into corps and such in the future and hopefully get back into the game again.
From his final post, he's indicating that when you begin the game, you start with a curtain set of skills that aid you in effectively flying a ship for that race. -At the start-
But aside from that initial headstart, (which really isn't anything at all.) it has no impact, and you shouldnt really base your race on a single days training for a curtain races ships to start with. You will quite so regret that later.
Like I did.
