In other words: the things they could copy from Subnautica are great. The things they added are just rushed and feel taped on. So no surprise the databank is a mess!
I have to admit that I hardly payed any attention to them during EA. I guess it's partly because most of them simply weren't there early on and partly because I already knew about the usefulness (or lack thereof) of everything once they were. Also, you'd have to actively search for any changes since those were not readily apparent when playing the game in EA.
And the moral of the story is: Don't let any elements lag behind in EA if you want to get useful feedback on them.
And as you say, this is probably particularly a problem for the databank entries, because "old hands" don't even read them anymore, since they already know what's in them.
To a newcomer like myself, it just looks very amateurish to have so many entries so blatantly wrongly categorized.
As far as "tons" of people complaining? No. The threads I created on this topic got basically no supportive Replies so clearly it never became a priority for the devs to fix.
Here's my most recent post that got no Replies at all.
