Deep. Where you can dive under 100 meters between the bridges in the rift.

South-west, near kelp forest. Near the first beacon you find when you go south-west and dive under the ice..

I'm at the "twisty bridges" but I can't dive deep enough. The Seatruck can't go below 150m and I can't swim long enough before running out of O2 from the standard tank. I can't upgrade the Seatruck without diamonds and I can't upgrade the O2 tank because I need the modification station - which I can't make without diamonds! Therefore I need diamonds to find diamonds. Ergo, I'm stuck.

There's Oxygen plants, they have a bulb where you can replenish your oxygen. They regenerate as well.

You need to use these to dive deeper. Which to be quite honest makes the game feel cheap.

There is area near twisty bridges, volcanic one. There are small caverns in it, and those usually tend to have diamond deposits inside. I think, this is most accessible diamonds source in the game.

i found one just inside the koppa mining site doors and three in a lava vent a little above the doors. had to search using the alterra facilities map as a reference to find it. wish i'd had a beacon so i can return easily when i can go deeper

Before going for diamond you need the begin O2 tank (from monkey nest between capsule pod and twisty bridges), then you can find in the twisty bridges the blueprint for the 2nd O2 tank (like 100 150m deep, you'll find it easily, its not hidden), then with this you can go max deepth into twisty bridges with O2 plants and get diamond. With 2 O2 plants, you have infinite O2 if you click them at the time they respawn. 1 plants on CD you can "delay" the suffocation. 3 plants, you can regenerate O2 to the max.

There is 3 O2 tank, the first monkey nest, the second into twisty bridges (seems you miss it, its not hidden so search a little more, noneed diamond or modif station), and the third which need diamond+station

BTW, you must know that you can craft AND have in your inventory more than one tank at a time

You don't even need the first upgrade of the tank. It makes it easier but if you find the gap near the alien base in twisty bridges you can just do a fast deep dive and collect the few diamonts you need for the seatruck update. [\spoiler]

That is what I do. I don't make the Ultra Cap tank since it slows you down. I used 2 90sec tanks (same as single UC tank but no mov pen) with standard fins (charge fins don't give movement bonus) before I got truck upgraded to go deeper.

Speaking of movement speed, if you have your truck at 5 length that is the slowest it'll ever move, so just keep adding onto it. Mine is 10 long with 1 of each module + 4 storage. I don't have base, i use truck as base. When need charges on batteries or cells than i make temp moonpool+bio/heat reactor to charge, & tear it back down when finished.
