I just went there myself, but as I previously found this topic, luckily I was prepared.
I've build a teleportation module onto my seatruck, kept my seatruck back at my base and just moved with the Prawn down there.
I surely either build a Tether Tool and took it with me.
When I arrived at the entry, I've removed all equipment and upgrade modules from the Prawn and shotrly after I entered the fabricator facility, I witnessed the Prawn being attacked once by the Shadow Leviathan.
Ultimately I think it got destroyed by the depth (without the respective modules that were in my inventory), but as of using the Tether Tool after giving AL-AN a body, I simply arrived at my seabase ready to build a new Prawn. :D
The prawn is the fasted vehicle in the game though.
At least if you use strafe jumping (or strafe gliding under water).
doesn't change anithing to the fact leviathan don't attack the seatruck when your not piloting it unlike the prawn
it's also possible to park the prawn a little away from the fabricator entrance out of reach of roaming leviathan path and aggro range but it so much easier to just come with the seatruck
Fair enough, but I rather keep "Fatman" at home. He's good for resource hunting, but not if I am only particular after a quest.
That said... I actually should give my Prawn a name. "Bunny" fits, I guess. XD
I went around in the cave and made sure there were no Leviathans on me while I went towards the entrance of the facility. So they stayed away from the facility and thus the prawn.
After I was done I could just normally enter my prawn and go back to my Seatruck. They didnt touch it once, nor were they seen anywhere near.
Find an out of the way nook between three crystals, and cram the Prawn into it, then seaglide to the fabber base. The spooky glow-worms seem to have a harder time clipping through the crystals than the neighboring terrain.
Or use the Tether, and a stripped Prawn. Reapers stuffing Seamoths into terrain was a time-honored Subnautica thing, and the sequel has carried the tradition of "get your vehicle dropped from animations into solid terrain".
Edit: ^ "Three crystals" is the important detail. You need an awkward enough space that the leviathan's "Hungry for Prawn" timer runs out before it can pathfind to the vehicle. The more axes of approach it's blocked on, the better.
I was having fun with the game, and had fun with the original as well... but I just can't keep ignoring all the problems the game has. It's not something I want to struggle against anymore. Power to anyone that can still keep enjoying the game regardless, but for me that was it I'm done now.
