Best Biome/Location for a large & safe base.
I just beat the game. While I have build a few land and sea bases they are small and a little janky.

If you look at my steam profile you will see the base I made from Subnautica part 1. I want to make one just like that in Below Zero? I need a Biome that has a large deep open area? Almost no threat at all. And if possible for it to look cool too? But the look cool part is not as important?

I don't care for a land base at the moment. I did fine one area that was pretty much nothing but water it only had a few prawn drill nodes and open water and I don't think there was any threats. I forget what Biome it is and thankfully I placed a Beacon there. But it was kind of a boring spot. But it may end up being were I choose.

This is the kind of base I need room to build. I know there are places in Below Zero for it. But I need your best opinions.

i don't know of any areas that are both deep, wide, AND safe, but the lily pad zone is fairly deep, wide, and pretty, at least.

The Lily Pad Zone, as Godith mentions, is likely your best bet.

Doesn't Glacial bay have a huge easily accessible floor bed without any predators?
There's a lot of Eye Jelly, but they don't attack if you stay clear.
Should have room for an extensive and interesting base.

Lily Pads is great but there's also floating rocks that might obstruct your buildings. I'd say the area left of the Delta Station and towards Glacial Basin. It's large, open, and relatively safe.

Everywhere is safe if you kill everything with the invincible Seatruck/Perimeter Defence combo.

If by large you mean your definition of large (awesome base you showed there, hats off to you :steamhappy:), I don't know what would be the best place to settle. Personally I like the shallows, around the area where your drop pod is (both in regular Subnautica as well as in Below Zero). While Subnautica had plenty of open spaces to work with, I struggled a bit in BZ to find an area spacious enough for the type of base I wanted. This is what it currently looks like:

Due to the presence of obstructions such as rocks sticking out, it was a bit of trial and error, but the end result is much to my liking :). Usually I have only one base and create no outposts or land bases. Only in the other Subnautica do I have a smaller base at the big tree in Lost River.

underwater West Arctic is a good biome for a big bases, has much space and almost no one are dangerous except for eye jellys, but they are slow and doing small damage.

Alright thanks. These are all really good and well though out answers. I love that base Marblethrone looks amazing. Well I guess what I need to do next is explore each of the areas mentioned here. I will likely reply to this thread once I have made my decision and eventually I will likely post images of my base on my profile. But it may be a couple weeks or longer before I am done. All depends on how hard it is to get the materials I need and how much free time I have.

Ruiner that is a really funny idea just go and murder myself a secure locations but no... I don't really kill things in this game. Other then general fish etc. I am worried about Lillypad as I don't want those giant whales nearby in fear they will swim and clip though my base or something. But I guess I an see if there is an area void of them and other general dangers. If I am correct the whales are all over there. But maybe there is a clear area. Wish me luck and thanks again everyone. But before my base I need to go and update my review for the game now that I finished it I only had a placeholder review before.

Wait how did you got a cyclops?

The 4th or 5th picture of your GIF clearly shows a cyclops.

Those are pictures from the first game from a base I made. Showing an example of a base I want to recreate. Well not recreate it will be different.

LOL. I know I wish. I don't feel this game need the Cyclops but I would be interested in that mod none the less.

Mmm, what about the space between the Thermal Vents and the Twisty Bridges, just a little bit to the right from Delta Island? At some point the Thermal Vents stop and there's a ~100m decline, it's pretty wide, safe and up until the Bridges, practically empty. I hope I gave clear indications.

I decide to build my base in the Arctic Biome to the North East of the Deep Deep Actic Biome. Yes that does mean my base is far away from most places in the game. But that is okay unless your building in the middle most locations are far away. I am placing my base around 150M deep. And the neat thing is I will have giant whales and other sea life swimming around but not close enough to be a problem my base is just deep enough. I think there are better locations and if the games creature AI is smart enough to not swim near the bases then I could have found a better location in the Arctic but my location is good enough.

The lillypad area would have been impossible to many rocks. The Glacier place with eye jellys would probably have been fine but they creep me out and I think to many Jellys they would cluster around my base and bother me.

Ian I tried to find the place you spoke of? I may have found it but regardless I don't think it had exactly enough room. lol However it might have or maybe I did not find the exact spot.

While my base will be a great overall base. Technically the reason I'm doing this is just to make a cool looking base. It does not need to be the most practical base. Afterall I plan to have several smaller bases and a big land base too. But this base is going to be my main project in Below Zero. I have already put a lot of work into it. At the stage were I am deconstruction and reconstructing parts of it to see what I like the best. Basically still planning the overall layout. I'm like 5% done. lol

Thanks everyone.

Apologies if the site I recommended wasn't suitable enough, glad you could find a proper place.
