How to deal with the Ice Worm?

The Thumper is useless when you are traveling. The worm will drop you out of the bike even if you speed up most times. To me, it feels like a big annoyance that cannot be avoided when exploring.

Also, I used my Thumper on an slighty elevated ice platform, and it fell inside it, making it impossible to pick it back up. Had to go back and build another.

When I saw the self-destruct button on the Spy Penguin (which I still don't know what's its use), I was sure the plan was to let the worm eat it and then kill it by exploding from the inside. Would have been great :(

Is there any way to deal with it other than repair and keep moving?

I havent gotten that far since 1.0, but the worm used to be unable to damage the prawn suit. I prefer to swing around like spider man anyway..

If you want to stick with the bike try avoiding the open spaces wherever possible. Drive over/around bone piles, uneven terrain, and just boost jump over the flat parts if you can.

Pretty sure the ice worm is still immune to all damage.

Get a prawn, ignore it, keep moving.

The ice worm can damage the prawn, but if you keep moving it shouldn't really hit you.

Run diagonally to run faster.

Ice worm it is easy to deal with it... I use Prawn suit on surface so as long it has the booster and one ion battery plus charge on hot places mod bit... your char can go naked with little robot everywhere including to the .... (in the ice worm graveyard) that links to the other .... at the destroyed cave base at surface... (you can teleport within prawn but then the door forces you to teleport back into the ice worm place) ;) it is trilling to see the ice worm jumping from under the prawn soon after the prawn jumped out from that place... always jump when u hear the ice worm about to attack...

so all surface is lot easier with prawn suit... instead of fox bit, plus warm cloths etc.

As to deal with ice worm in prawn suit... boost its jump speed when u hear ice worm sound it is suffice to get out of the way till next strike...

but well... u can always "die peacefully" (it is a pity that jukebox cant be installed in the prawn)... coz that would be the music when facing the ice worm

I have no idea how the games expects you to get around them. The Thumper didn't appear to make any difference.

Thankfully, despite the game doing everything they can to hype up their threat, they deal extremely minimal damage and aren't actually dangerous at all. Just keep some bandages on you and you can pretty much face-tank their attacks all the way across the glacier.

it is random, but the ice worm is "attracted" by "vibration" so walking does trigger that.. to avoid it more thumpers are needed and left behind as you walk. But as I mentioned I use prawn on surface and that means near constant ice worm strikes... however it is easier to get out of the place before ice worm makes any damage.

Prawn plus boost plus jumping a lot, occasional repair.

Really it's like the origiojal, prawn is god mode.

I was a bit scared of it so I walked. If I hear it coming, I drop the thumper and back away from wherever the worm is coming up. That worked fine.

If you feel like being very over-cautious and slow, you can make two thumpers and do a two steps forward, one step back movement through the arctic spires.

I went with the Prawn and pretty much just kept running. The worm didn't even hit me once.

I just did a no vehicle run. No truck, no prawn and no snowfox, so I just walked. Not a big deal, the worm injured me one time. Take three med kits, a flare for the snow stalkers and stick to the sides of the ice walls.

Don't use the Snowfox, and just run across the map. Yes, it is that simple.

Snowfox seems to attract worms like a magnet, making them hit you and fall of that useless scooter. When on foot however, I can just leg it, and hardly any of their attacks hit me.

Hugging the wall and walking made the ice worm pretty harmless for me

just use prawn. ice worm is an annoyance since ea sadly. and one the devs decided to keep even though everyone hates it

Like nearly everyone else says, the prawn suit is your friend, it can get damaged but at least you're not thrown off it, I think the snowfox was made just for the prono because as a game mechanic it's useless.
