The area would be improved if the constant snowstorm was turned off. They went to some effort to make the area very pretty but you almost never get to actually see it. On the rare minute here and there that you can actually see beyond 4 meters you'll see that they did some impressive artwork. It would also reduce a lot of the frustration of finding your way around the area.
After participating in EA and giving BZ a full post-release play, I'll probably go back to Sn1 if I need to scratch that Subnautica itch again. There's some pretty things in BZ but also some pretty bad things (writing/dialogue) that I won't miss.
Beacons can be p;laced on lands.
you just plant the spikes in
Thats exactly what he said?! "Beacans CAN be placed on land"
The basin is just terrible to navigate. Your best bet is cramming beacons into the various access points rather than trying to directly mark things. Do yourself an enormous favor: Prawn + Jumpjet upgrade + Grapple. Makes that whole segment a bit more tolerable.
You also seemed to miss the point about landmarks being hard to see in the constant whiteout. So, for those that don't want to use internet cheats and screwtube walkthroughs, this area design can be frustrating.
For the basin I took the shortcut through the underwater area rather than deal with the maze.
