Quantum lockers might help. And mods are/will be available.
You might have misread what the teleport module does. It will return you to the truck from wherever you might be, but it is not a conduit back to anywhere like a base.
I usually make the Fabricator and Storage modules just for convenience but on this latest playthrough I didn't even bother with those and am doing fine without.
This is exactly how I feel about the seatruck, lol
I generally only use the truck as a mobile air supply to get the pieces to craft a prawn, then the thing gets more or less permanently parked.
But even with the speed nerf, I feel like I am wasting less time then using a Seatruck. The Seatruck is like a Taxi, and the Booster Tank is like riding a Bike. The Seatruck is a middle man that offers to protect you and take you places, but you gotta find resources for it, make it, power it, upgrade it, and then take care of it, and go to it, from it, moving modules around, parking it here, oh I left this material in there gotta go back....
Nah fam I'll just git to going where I gots to be and zyooom back. I decided I simply won't use the Seatruck, since they aren't forcing me to make one to build the game. And I've already done the tests, and know how far I can go and how deep I can get without a Seatruck, and know the path ways to take to optimize distance traveled over time.
Another reason I like to use Booster tanks instead of the Seatruck, is I run 2 Air Bladders, and if I need oxygen? I can boost up 200 meters really quick and dolphin hop out the water and catch MAD AIR TIME, often times I can get so high in the air I catch my breath refill my Booster tank by the time I'm coming back down in the water, and off I go Boosting more with the Tank.
It's the closest I've ever gotten to having fun in this game lmao?
Topic-wise I find the Seatruck ... okay. I like the convenience of the tiny "mobile base" (and the faint illusion of being 'safe' inside that thing), but for transportation I'll always prefer the Seamoth (which actually looks really cool, while the Truck is ... eh ...) ... hopefully it will get modded in somehow. ;)
All airtanks are empty when you build them, in order for a second air tank to work, you need to equip it so it fills with air, then switch back to your primary tank, and likewise once you empty it you have to equip it to fill once again.
also, the air bladder in BZ is way more powerful than it was in Subnautica.
I feel the same about the Seatruck....It serves it's purpose for me and enjoy what it does. Never had a problem with it's lack of speed compared to the Seamoth. I think the devs did that on purpose to give the smaller sized map a larger feel....
Also, the air bladder is faster to me than the seaglide going up to the surface...saved me a bunch of times.
Ultimately, they need to make the map double the size it currently is, and then boost the truck speed by 4x and BZ will feel much more like SN1 did.
If you build a second air tank (any kind) it's empty until you "equip it" then it fills with air. Your oxygen tanks in the inventory screen have a color bar indicator to show how much O2 each tank has.
Robin's lungs hold 45 seconds of air.
If you have 2 Booster Tanks, and both are filled with air, that's 90s+90s+45s of air.
I use 2 Booster Tanks because I often use them for the actual speed boost for short trips here and there. But if making a deep dive, I give up the speed boost and just use both tanks for the combined 180s of extra air.
Air Bladders aren't used for speed or traveling, they're for going straight up to the surface to get my air back.
The way I use my Booster Tanks is more of a speed boost, so 2 Air Bladders means even at 200 meter depths as long as my path up to the surface isnt' obstructed I can be about to drown, pop both bladders and make it to the surface before I die.
Often I get so much air time doing this I can refill my O2 tanks before hitting the water again.
Using a Booster Tank x2, AIr Bladder x2, + Seaglide combo, I actually have FUN. I go FAST. I soar up out of the air dozens of meters! Creatures can't catch me. I have an actual chance of drowning. I have to plan my dives better. But as I do, I become a better more skilled player.
Playing Below Zero w/o a n y vehicles is the most fun I've ever had in this game.
