Non Survival Mode should be able to use FOOD to heal...
Very disappointing that you can ONLY use food in Survival mode.
I started in Survival but was spending way too much time just eating and drinking and having to carry around so much cured fish and water bottles on any long trips that it was just too frustrating.

It would be very nice if you were allowed to cook and eat food to help you heal instead of being forced to use first aid kits.
It would help you get into the flow of the character and the game that way.

Otherwise the game is pretty good.
Need a bit more direction right now, just keep going out and trying to find blueprints and ores and stuff. I have so many FULL little storage containers floating around my survival bubble....can't find the building tool pieces so I can actually build a base yet.

There is something in the game that will heal you, give you food, and H2O in one shot...it's not going to cure you in one eating, but you can find it, grow it and not worry about it. Save the first aid kits for emergencies.

Let me first by say I only play in survival mode so this MAY not apply at all.

In survival you DO slowly regenerate health over time, but only to a limited extent (I don't know what that limit is). However when I do stop naturally healing, I have noticed that if I eat and drink again the slow natural healing will resume.

I assume you're looking for an MMO style eat food to quickly restore health mechanic. That wasn't in the original Subnautica, I would not expect it to suddenly show up in Below Zero.

Also,

He's correct, just don't expect to tuck it away in your pocket and expect it to stay fresh for a long time.

Just because its not a hardcore game and no 'secrets' as youy claim, are to be found, doesnt mean a game is for kids. If I didnt knew better Subnautica had quite a couple of secrets and eastereggs....

it was super easy to stay hydrated and full hp in Subnautica. I didnt even carry much around

i would like a 2 slot emergency tank refill giving you 50% oxygen

Yes you regenerate health slowly when your food and water are full or almost full.

For some reason they linked being able to eat and drink to being in Survival Mode ONLY.
It needs to be allowed to help healing also.

I am sure the content will get much better, and there will be a story line to guide you eventually.
But as a very careful player, I do not like to take chances dying if I can spend a bit of extra time and stay alive. I am a sniper type of player in most games to avoid conflict with MOBS at all costs.

Unfortunately at the point the game is right now, you can only wonder around and hope to find essential blueprints and parts to allow you to build your character progression, or get very bored very quickly just going back and forth.

I watched lets plays for the regular Subnautica and that looks great, so I am hoping the same will blossom here too.
