MY PRAWN SUIT FELL THROUGH THE GROUND!!!!!
so i was tooling around with my prawn suit on dry land in the glacial zone, when i got stuck on something. it happens occasionally (which is a whole another issue, why let the suit go under something if its going to get permanently stuck there?), and unfortunatly the only way out of it is to quit and reload the save...

well this time i lost some 27 minutes since my last save, which sucked, but not nearly as much as the fact that when the previous save loaded (and every time ive tried to load it afterwards) my prawn suit, my beautiful prawn suit, had fallen through the ground, some 30-40 meters down. forever gone and out of reach.

including my jump jet boost upgrade and drill arm and a bunch of useful stuff in the cargo. just gone like that due to a stupid glitch. im so angry! so much time i spent building that prawn suit! just wasted and gone. feels like the whole save is wasted. i almost dont even want to play the game anymore.

this falling through the ground glitch happens a frustrating amount of time on dry land ive noticed, but ive never seen it happen with a vehicle. beacons, a pair of gloves i dropped by accident... but the prawn suit was sitting there when i first saved the fateful save. i know this, because the first time around i went back and got into the suit and was driving it around when it got stuck some 27 minutes later. it was there, but something glitched in the save or something, because now its always underground every time i load the save. and because this game is designed the way it is there is no backup save or anything like that. just gone. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gone.

Safe spaces and puppies are available for any who need them.

That happened to me the other day too. I exited and the character and PRAWN jumped back a bit. I went exploring on foot for a bit and when I came back, it was about 20m underground. I just used the console commands to spawn another one in with all the arms and extras that I already had.

I hope you also posted a bug report directly in the game, instead of only ranting on the forum. Only THEN can the devs work on it...

As much as I support and endorse using F8 to report bugs in-game this is a problem that has plagued Subnautica (and now BZ) for years.

I don't think there's anything they can do about it - though the upgrade to the new version of the Unity engine *could* fix it once and for all.

It did seem to me that those problems became less and less frequent as the original moved through EA to development. I don't remember hitting any of these after the full release. It's almost like the devs were catching places where things could fall through and correcting them as they were discovered.

It does seem like there should be a blanket solution, but I haven't worked in this engine so that's just speculation on my end.

oh to be sure i hit f8 right away!
but they get a lot of those so i figured id spread it around, see if others had the same problem.
i dont remember ever having it happen in subnautica, but maybe i just got lucky.
i sure hope they fix the problem. it makes the risk almost not worth it. so many hours to get these things to just have them fall away.
i guess ill have to cheat the console too. i do want to keep playing. dont want to have to scavenge another whole prawn suit and the upgrades again...
how do you do that?

holy crap i got it back!!!

i used the "ghost" console command.
the only odd thing was that sometimes when i type in ghost to end it and teleport to the camera location it brought up the spy penguin loading screen and got stuck there. i could still move around and stuff (sort of) but i couldnt see anything other than the black loading screen and i dont think i could use any items or anything. each time this happened i had to reload the save again.

but eventually i use freecam first, and then ghost and it worked!
i teleported to down to my suit and used the boosters to jet up again. i was able to pass through the ground from below without issue, and the suit landed on solid ground! i will just have to be really careful when i save to always have my suit in a moon pool or docking module whenever possible. or if it falls through at least there seems to be a way to get it back.
