But thanks for the "heads up".
I looked them up out of frustration and there is literally only 3 places to get them (before making the purple), I wont spoil it, but one of them you've probably already been to and got 3 of them, there aren't many left after that. It's a beta, so can't complain but you may have to use console commands if you turned them all into ion batteries/cells.
I imagine this wont be an issue on release, and when you do make that purple tablet, you get access to many more.
"If I knew then what I know now..."
where you find AL-AN's body. In that room on the ground behind the alien structure is a Cube node you can mine with the prawnsuit drillarm
it's not in any of those 3 locations. you find him in the glacial basin in the iceworm area. in that room there is ion node to drill with the prawnsuit
This is true, but unfortunately it requires the purple tablet to access, which requires an ion cube to make, which is a problem if you've already found the other ones and turned them into batteries which are incredibly useful.
You will find Ion Cubes in Sanctuary Zero, the first alien structure you find during the story, 1 down in caves in the kelp area, and 1 down in the twisty bridge area with the leviathan. If you found thoes ones, and made batteries out of them, you are literally screwed to make the purple tablet, thus, can't access additional ion cubes. It's kind of game breaking tbh.
Progress items should not require items that are incredibly few and far between, but hey, it's a beta. Hell, at very least let us break the batteries back down into ion cubes or include an ion cube near one of the tablet pieces.
I avoid sarcasm "like the plague", in forums, because it is always misunderstood.
(By the way, there are "Spoiler tags" to use if you want to.)
Hehe. You poor slob. Didn't you learn anything in Subnautica? One always keeps a few ion cubes around for unforseen situations. You got greedy and are now looking for someone else to blame.
No, they are absolutely right: If a choke point in the game requires a rare resource, that resource should not be finite, or at the very least the game should warn the player about the finiteness of the resource.
I know it sounds crazy, but it is silly to assume that a person playing Subnautica: Below Zero will have played Subnautica.
You actually could not waste all your ion cubes in Subnautica, because by the time you unlock things to craft with them (ion batteries) you already have access to infinite respawning ion cubes. In Below Zero, you get access to ion batteries very early, as well as the teleporter that consumes ion cubes, so you can quite easily use all your cubes on them before you can unlock the door for the infinite supply. That's not "getting greedy and looking for someone else to blame". That is called a soft lock, and is an objective flaw in game design that has to be fixed before release.
BZ is the same way. They are few and far between until the end and suddenly there are lots of them.
They set the same trap again and you fell into it.
