I get it. Adolescent boys want a young spunky girl and not a 40 year old scientist who is old enough to be their mother.
Shame. I was hoping this game could still be salvaged.
You are in big trouble , your base got buried , the higher up refuse to send rescue , an alien take root inside your brain and yet you still challenge the alien and ask him to blow up your space station ? It is beyond weird and unrealistic .
This current voice though , show she is quite experienced , the type of researcher that someone would send to an unknown planet that was known to have contagious disease . She is calm , collected .
But the current voice and lines seem much more in-story, than the first, and reminds me of people that I worked with. If you are stranded for real, that's who you want to be, not some 14 year old. Even if you really are 14 years old! Part of the fun is imagining that you are older, stronger and better trained. 8-)

I never said the gameplay wasn't great (though that too suffered a downgrade in BZ).
But yeah, you apparently have no idea why it mattered, so I'd recommend against acting like it didn't.
