Anybody who says otherwise is a russian, no... ukranian agent. yeah.
Totally out of character. (Either the voice or the line.)
I personally liked the original Robin, hope she returns....
The new one has a much more serious tone to her voice. Like she is calm and collected.
On top of that the game just held your hand to the point of ridiculousness. You had onscreen blips every time you reached a location they originally told you to go to and dropped EVERYTHING right beside you so you could unlock far too much far too early with no issue or very little exploration.
I came back now after hearing they were going to completely redo the story and figured I'd hop in, see what it is they have going at this point and heard they had changed voice actresses.
Honestly, I really didn't like the new voice actress at first but the more I got into it the more I grew to like it. Felt more fitting of the situation, more grown up and less of a teenage romcom playing in the background plus they gutted a lot of the voice acting so there wasn't much talking from the main character which was a nice change. In the first release it was incredibly bad. It honestly felt like it was written dialogue that should have been in a tween movie about mermaids.
I hope with the new version of the story they cut the protagonists voice out completely just as it was in the first game. It was more fitting, atmospheric and just played out so much better.
With this newer, current version of the story it feels like they're just letting you have fun, build stuff and they're focusing more on telling a story by use of the environment instead of spoon feeding you the story by dialogue between two sisters written as if it were a tween movie.
I hope they keep some elements, however. I'm only around five hours in now? From the start it seems like they were going to have a bit of a twist in the game like the space station would be invaded by whoever took your shuttle. Would have been nice if the ending involved going through the dark corridors of the space station and trying to track down the invader Alien: Isolation style. Doubt that's what they were going for but it was odd that your escape pod took off after being told the other guy with you was killed and shortly after that point radio comms went dead(I've not repaired the antenna yet but apparently this was due to an asteroid?).
I don't think Robin's voice was bad, I just think the writing was absolutely terrible and because of that it was very hard to give a damn about Robin or her sister or the story.
Her new voice actor is so serious-sounding, that she doesn't even sound scared, or concerned about anything, but rather completely neutral. Emotionless is the only way to describe it. Her first voice actor had an exciting energy, and just in general, her voice was better to listen to.
Wish they'd have kept the old voice actor but just changed the writing, so that Robin wasn't talking about how much she loved her sister every 2 second haha
