Sea Monkeys, Actually the worst thing to exist
So, these have put me off playing the game entirely. Why? Because as soon as they snatch something from you, they have a nice little buffer before you can steal it back, enough to zoom away from you at super sonic speeds. Now, maybe this would be a little better if the ones who had items were more visibly distinct especially at night because every item you can make under the sun has some kind of gaudy glow to it. Even your knife has a nice glowing ring. Except it's impossible to identify the monkeys who have your items unless you're right beneath them, which makes getting your items back a chore that's in my opinion more difficult and worthless than anything in the original Subnautica at any point.

Get all of your items stolen as soon as you start because your base landed in a swarm of sea monkeys who rob you as soon as you open the door? Check.

Can't find them again because they're far faster than you when they get away and the items don't make them visibly distinct in the slightest? Check (Maybe make their head frills glow or something when they're holding an 'object of interest')

Can't get the item back because as soon as they snatch it they're not actually registered as holding it for a nice cooldown until they zip away and the second point mentioned becomes an issue? Check.

It's ridiculous.

Despite being only 13% of lifeforms, sea monkeys commit 100% of thefts <= now that Is being racist

Personally I would really like a Harpoon Gun , something that kinda looks like the Stasis Rifle but be able to use different types of Harpoons , regular / explosive / stasis / flare ....etc .

Yeah wanted to rant about them too and found that discussion. The ruin the game for me. They stole scanner and knive. Dont know where the knive went. Got scanner back. Was stolen immediatly again. Wtf. I just want to play and not chase my tools. It just gets me angry instead of adding to the game.

This is like the 'gun' issue from the first game. Apparently in the future, sticking a knife to a pole is impossible.

apparently in the future, we have lost the ability to tie tools to our belt with cords.

i just swim around them. they don't take anything unless you swim right at them.
and it doesn't take much spacial awearness to follow the right one if they take something.

i bought it (on epic store therefore you don't see me as "bought" here), but i have to say, i would return this game, for the sole reason of the seamonkeys. Its just annoying to always have your equilp stolen, every about 5 minutes. after losing 2 scanners, 6 knives, and some other stuff, i have to say: stay away from the game, if you haven't already bought it. i really regret it.

Maybe one solution would be that the monkey drop their loot in the nests after a few minutes, but even then, the annoiance of losing your tools inmidst the work is just too much

Problem is the first time you lose something, you may not even know why. I haven't lost as many items as some people, but the first thing that disappeared from my hands was my scanner. I didn't realize I could get it back, so I made a new one and finished scanning sea monkeys cautiously and realized, after losing a knife, what was going on and figured out that I could get my stuff back. I didn't feel victory in getting my knife back, I was just glad to not lose the sea monkey shell game, while the thief is frantically swimming from me, then I just felt like I got my knife back after a needless chase. It's not the same as a first encounter with a Mesmer or Blast fish, and it's not the same as suddenly being warped from your Seamoth or Prawn suit. All three of those provide tension and disorientation and a need to think fast. It just doesn't feel the same as a tool suddenly being gone. I get that it's supposed to have a playful feel or something, but it's lost in the tedium of 'remember to put stuff away before swimming here, including your scanner'. I like the idea of the items being dropped at a nearby nest after a certain time or at least making it more obvious who the thief is, just in case you make the mistake of not stowing your gear. They could reduce the chances of an item being taken and make it so only certain items are removed. They could also create a struggle animation so that items aren't just randomly gone when a sea monkey comes, make the little buggers fight for it, they are taking from my hand and not off the ground after all.

well i dont like them they allways steal stuff u need, so i tend to not getting close, or if i must get close, i have a gravity ball in my pocket, if u get robbed, throw it out and the thief get catched, or play minefield and spread gravity balls were u want to work... personaly i have nothing against them, but in swarms they are a annoyance..

Don't buy this game, it is not worth it . Honestly when it does launch later this year in full release, it will still be broken mess. They added got "WOKE" overtone to the game which is just as bad as making the sea monkey's steal everything . I had to quit playing , because the sea monkey's would steal my building tool every time i started building my base.

It should be safe to assume the knives were lost in attempts to kill the little guys.

....and she LOST? To a Sea Monkey? :steamfacepalm: :steamfacepalm:

"You win this time Sea Monkey!"

*makes another knife*

"You win again Sea Monkey!"

*makes another knife*

"Drat! I'll get you yet, Sea Monkey!"

*makes another knife*

etc....

Shiana Jun 11, 2019 @ 1:28pm
Yeah, she lost to a seamonkey. One Seamonkey stole the scanner, so i equipped the knife and tried to kill it. before i could do anything my knife was gone too. so i switched to my reserve knife, but this one also was stolen within less than a minute.... Apparently there were more than just one seamonkeys... i went back, got new gear, and wanted to get my first scanner back, but again those things were too fast in snatching my stuff
