Scanner Room and Energy
Are people currently just using the console to build nuclear reactors or something to get this to work? I've read a few threads on how people say to use the scanner to find hard to find stuff like lead, but the power output needed (especially down in the twisty bridges) can't be supported by simple solar panels.

Hell I even consoled in two bio reactors and it's still not enough, the scanner is draining so fast it simply isn't showing any nodes (say searching for lead nodes in twisty), yet people say that's how to do it?

I'm confused. How do you get the power necessary to get the scanner to actually scan?

You could build a small base at the top of the twisty bridges with just a multipurpose & scanner rooms. Would take 5-6 solar panels to run the scanner room more if stays on all the time. I have 1250 solar power and have no issues with room on for over a day.

I am not sure if you could just build a scanner room with a portal, but I do not think so.

I have 900 energy right now and the base does run out of energy from of the scanner room when I'm going a big haul, however, the location markers don't seem to go away even after the power runs out so it doesn't seem to matter.

This is so wierd, because I built a scanner right at the surface in the spires region, built 6 solars ontop of it and turned on gold node searching (there was nodes literally right outside) and it still couldnt find anything and would just straight up run out of power, especially as the sun set (which would be fine if it had actually found something during the daytime).
I really don't know at this point.

It just won't show any nodes, doesn't even matter what I search for. I'm thinking it's bugged, but if it's working for everyone else then I don't know.

The Scanner Room has always had limitations - it will only show materials on chunks of terrain already loaded by the game.

If you're not seeing stuff you think you should be seeing, swim or drive around outside the base for a while to force the game to load that terrain.

You can also send Camera Drones around, that also loads the terrain.

This is most noticeable if you load a saved game inside your base and immediately try to use the Scanner. None of the exterior terrain has been loaded yet.

Yeah, I've heard this too, but the scanner room was built way later in the playthrough (like after getting seatrucks and checking out pretty much deep twisting bridge etc). I also heard it could be the same issue but that it's a game session issue, but if I build a scanner right onto an area with things, I search for said things, have been roaming around in said area waiting for the things to show up, then I just don't think that's the issue.

Also yes I have the HUD scanner chip just incase anyone might think that's the issue.

I am playing on experimental, does that matter?

Experimental is always buggier than stable so yes, it matters.

Ah, might be it then. I just figured more people playing experimental would have the same issues. I have played on two different playthroughs and both being bonked, so I'm unsure at this point.

If I revert back to stable will I still be able to try this save? To check if that might be the issue? (I don't care about the save being corrupted or whatever).

I use nothing but solar panels and it's fine.

10 will work, more is better.

Are you playing on stable or experimental?
