Why did they remove bleach?
In the first game, bleach was an intermediate source of water- more complicated to make than just gathering bladderfish, but also giving more water for the effort. The final tier of water generation was the water electrolyzer.

In fact the first game had, to my recollection, four sources of water- bladderfish, disinfected water via bleach, electrolyzer, and also the stillsuit.

I know Below Zero isn't finished yet, but I'm surprised they haven't included an intermediate source of water at least besides just grabbing bladderfish/creepvine seeds. Given the copious amounts of what I assume is water ice, perhaps there will be alternate methods to gather water, like a handheld tool that melts/sucks up water but consumes a lot of time and power in the process? That would give you a way to gather water for parts of the game on the surface, but would still have its own opportunity costs in terms of time and energy.

Heat fruit found on the islands gives a decent amount of water. I keep two lockers full of it in my base.

The first game also had the filtration system found later. Bleach was an early source of water since bladder fish depleted in areas.

Now we have an abundance of bladder fish and the filtration system early. No real need for bleach in BZ.

That is where the phrase "Wear your brown pants!" comes from. ;p

It also adds 50 heat which isn't good if you aren't cold.

Yes, washing cloths in salt water definitely does chafe. Salt crystals have sharp edges, like sand. Been there, done that... 8-}
