Hoverbike still not working on water
Hi,

thats ridiculous. You should be able to use it on water...with acceptable speed that is.

Unlike the three main vehicles in Subnautica, the Snowfox is strictly for zooming across the arctic terrain and cannot work over water.

Hoverbike is a land vehicle. With all the options to travel underwater currently, I don't see the need for it to work on water. Plus there is nothing worth exploring on the surface anyhow.

Sure... but No Man's Sky hovercraft can do it... so it kinda seems dumb to me. Still love Subnautica much more than that game, just seems silly a hovercraft can only hover on land.

There's not a lot of science to back that up. Even current hovercrafts can do it and this is supposed to be future tech. So yea I just don't get it.

Only answer that makes sense is they don't have time to code it. The usual...
It's a totally fictional vehicle, so trying to analyze the physics or compare to similar vehicles in other games can get a bit silly.

Looking at the design I don't see fans/rotors providing lift air. It looks more sparky like some electromagnetic reaction. You could justify it by thinking it would just push liquids down and out of the way and not provide sufficient lift - it needs a more solid surface to "grip" against.

Ultimately the developers have made the decision for game-play reasons that don't have to have a real world justification: You can't skim past the Chelicerate, etc.

Yah current tech uses fans and skirts. NMS never explains how its craft are hovering.

You're asking about an anti-gravity bike (we assume).

I think it's great that people get immersed enough in these games to challenge the lore but when you get down to brass tacks it's a game mechanic, pure & simple.

What we really need to talk about from an early access perspective is how it performs in-game.

IMHO, it's still too bouncy. They toned down the bounciness with the Spy Penguin update but it still needs to be dialed back a bit. It's really nausea-inducing when you're bouncing around.

The Snowfox is not a hovercraft. A hovercraft creates an air cushion that lets it hover over water. The Snowfox does not create an air cushion in order to hover. Instead, the Snowfox uses propellers to do so. When trying to hover over water with the Snowfox, those propellers will only push the water beneath it, which causes it to sink into the water.

This isn't NMS. Both games were made by different people. And, as others have pointed out, you're comparing two different fictional vehicles.

What is with people complaining over every minor detail about this game? If you're that upset about something so minor, go play NMS instead.
its not a minor thing. Its the snowfox

Um it is all in the name SNOW Fox not Snow & Water Fox. Snow fox is a dead give away as to it not going in water mainly because there is no snow in water. Should explain it pretty simple.

I agree it is a shame when people want to compare this game to others that have nothing in common at all. Then want what they have in other games by totally different companies. Illogical if you ask me. Oh well just an old fart that does not understand this kind of thinking I guess.

Yes, your issue is minor. The Snowfox is not a hovercraft, it's a hover bike.
The game needs a Jet Ski :lifepod:
your right. the name defines everything. snow and water fox would sound awesome or how about having both. that makes sense -.-

it is a game and it WOULD make sense ( gameplay wise ) to give the snowfox the ability to work on water.

but i guess some people just have to agree with the devs no matter what...

Might I ask as to why we need a water fox? We have scuba gear and the sea truck to get around in water. Plus the bulk of the game in under water. The snow fox was designed to help get around faster on large areas of land which we will get more of in the future. I prefer the prawn to the snow fox on land so far. Not as fast but warmer, safer and can jump to some areas the snow fox can not.

It really has nothing to do with agreeing with the dev's, it is more common sense.

its common sense to increase the fun of the game. You dont have to use it but im sure alot of people would like it to work on water too. It doesnt add much work to the development part. Like i said: who cares if its called SNOW fox. Its a game and BZ just like subnautica hardly follows realism anyways so...

would you mind telling me why it would bothers you so much if some people would get this extra bit of fun?

gameplay wise it was already a big mistake in Subnautica not to implant some water surface gameplay like a jetski or waves or rain.

diving is fun and all but especially in BZ there is a limit to that. Like i said it would just make sense to add this feature :/ Talking about common sense lol xD
