Request - light switch / dimmer for interior base light
I would love to be able to turn the lights down, sit in my in-game chair, and watch the ocean go by through the windows.

Control room, literally a light switch: “Am I a joke to you?”

Wasn't there a mod for the original Subnautica that allowed this?

Yes (two actually) but it hasn't been ported over to BZ and doubt it will be since the Control Room will be added soon and will incorporate this capability - in fact it will be better because you can power on/off sections of the base independently. The original mod was an "all on / all off" switch.

Ok, I was wondering if that's what the Control Room referred to. I wasn't sure if it was an alien location or something to do with an Alterra facility.

Cubicles in the large room. Heh

Yes this is absolutely needed, any why can't we change the wall colours inside the base? it's a seriously disappointing oversight.

I've been doing this as a workaround.
1) make it a 2 level structure
2) in the bottom level , add a containment unit
3) In the control room, disable power to the top floor room
4) load the top floor up with the following for lighting (pepper plants and aroma therapy lamps)
5) you will have a nice glass bottom floor in the top level and some light from the bottom floor but not enough light that its annoying.
6) make sure no things that require power (fabricators, recyclotron, jukebox, speakers, etc) are in the top floor (unfortunately you can only disable power to a section and not just lights. You can put these power consuming objects in the lower floor or in the connecting hallways
7) this all gives a really nice look , however, a light switch option in the room would be a million times better!

Just commenting on this old thread in hopes the developers notice and hopefully, hopefully, include this functionality in a future patch. I was really hoping the control room would include something for dimming the lights, but alas. I'm autistic and light sensitive, and going from the beautifully detailed, relatively dark ocean to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WHY IS IT SO EYE-SEARINGLY BRIGHT IN HERE is incredibly jarring and sometimes downright painful.
