New Update - Live Now
Hey folks!

We've just switched the public beta build from a couple weeks ago to the main game branch, and it's now live for everyone! Thank you to everyone who gave it a try and provided feedback! Here are the fixes in case you missed them in the beta:

• Mouse Sensitivity – We’ve made updates to how the mouse controls work to address the feedback you’ve been giving us. You will likely need to adjust your in-game mouse sensitivity after updating, but should see a noticeable improvement here.
• Cyrillic Usernames/Saves – Users with Cyrillic (or non-ASCII) characters in their usernames should now be able to have saves work as expected.
• Min-Spec Check – We’ve removed the block that prevented some users from entering gameplay based on how our game detected your system specs. Bypassing this may result in reduced stability or other gameplay issues for systems that are low on RAM, etc.

We've also got another tip for you! If you are having any issues with your resolution you can give this a try:
• Change your DPI scaling settings. Info on how to do that is here, from the lovely folks at Digital Foundry. https://youtu.be/Hz67PfVRfOg?t=707

If you want to fix the AA you can do it yourself with Reshade and applying FXAA and SMAA. It's in the same digital foundry video they linked and it's easy to do.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I'll download Reshade and give it a shot!

Still, it would be nice to have a working SMAA 2x in game. :-)

Thanks a lot. I always wanted to play this game and I'm glad these issues were patched the day I bought it. I just have a suggestion: earlier today I had issues with my gamepad and I noticed other users reported it as well. The issue was that the sticks can only go on 4 directions (up, down, left and right) and when you try moving them diagonally it doesn't move properly. Already tried changing settings in big picture without any success. In the meantime I'll enjoy the game with mouse and keyboard. :)

still cant start the game? says running, then syncing, then stops. im glad that when the game finally does get started that i wont have to deal with any of the problems listed here but if dealing with the problems listed here meant i actually got to play i'd pick dealing with them over nothing. please fix this.

:steamfacepalm: Your problem has to do with Anti-virus, which has nothing to do with this update.

Maybe try looking through the forums for a solution for your AV. There are posts on how to make an exception for Comodo to let the game run.

Might be more productive than throwing a tantrum, just saying.

Gotta remeber not all AV are the same.

For AVG

I also have AVG can you walk me through how you set the whole folder as exception??

1) Open AVG and click "Menu" and then "Settings"

2) In the "General" tab you should see "Exceptions" expand that.

3) Then you should be able to see an address bar and you can either enter the location of the folder manually or click browse.

4) Select the "SunsetOverdrive" folder and click ok.

The folder if you didn't change the install location should be in

Steam > steamapps > common > SunsetOverdrive

Also make sure to save the settings after or you're back to square one.

For Avast

I had the same issue, and it turned out to be an antivirus problem. I use Avast, and even after adding the game to my list of exceptions, Avast's "Behavior Shield" was still silently blocking it. I turned that off, and the game finally launched. Hope this helps!

If you are using avast:

1. go to Menu then click on Settings
2. in General click on Exclusions
3. find your sunset overdrive file
4. put file path in the exclusion (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SunsetOverdrive\*)
5. hit OK and your done

this is a way I got the game to work; i'm only using avast at the moment so.

Comodo

For Comodo users go to Advanced Settings -> Containment Settings and make sure "Do not virtualize access to" option is ticked, then add Sunset.exe as an exclusion to virtual containment as well as whitelist it under scan exclusions.

Whole folder exception instead of just the exe seems to also work better for people.

The removal of the requirements check at the beginning is wonderful. Only my CPU seemed to not pass what the game deems appropriate and it isn't even that far from being ideal. The game runs perfectly fine for me so that was annoying. Thanks for that!
