What the heck is Rainbow Vomit

So I've just started to find rainbow vomit everywhere.
How and why does this happen?

It's caused by a temporary event. When it happens you should see a newspaper icon in the upper left corner of your screen. If you click that icon you'll get a cute article and an explanation of what is happening and how much longer it will last.

Yeah I just noticed that, we have toilets, why can't they use them for the vomit..grrrr..
