They can sleep either way. I currently have 3 large rooms that I use for my bedroom-sharing but I have seen many others who set up individual bedrooms for them.

You can have as many as you want in one room - Just keep an eye on the room's prestige! It could drop if it's too crowded with items!

The cheapest way I've found to have a high prestige bedroom is to have one huge bedroom. I think a 15x15 space might work but I've been using 20x20. That might seem to be far too big, but by the time you get the last bedroom upgrade you'll see why allowing plenty of room is important. Some people might want to make the bedroom even bigger than that. The beds and lockers have sufficiently high prestige as they get better you shouldn't need any additional decorations.

If you want, you can start much smaller and increase the size as you need to. But if you do that make sure you leave PLENTY of room for expansion.

You can assign an individual bed. Click on a cultist, first tab, section "bed"
