Strange Brigade is fairly brief at around 8 or 9 hours, so while I wouldn't recommend it at full price, it's on sale for 90% off pretty frequently. At a tenth of the cost, it's a no brainer. The same goes for the Deluxe Edition, Season Pass, or the three Thrice Damned DLC missions (another ~3 hours of playtime that continue the story of the base game) with similar discount. I can't speak to how useful the DLC characters or weapons are since I didn't try them; they didn't seem to offer anything game-changing so I just stuck with the standard ones.

The design of the game, from the setting to the environments to the old-timey narrator, just oozes with quirky character. It looks phenomenal and plays really enjoyably. There are some great cinematic moments, action that keeps you on your toes, challenging boss fights, and in my recollection it was entirely bug-free (scorpions and scarabs notwithstanding). Worth noting is a clever mechanism that tells you when there's an enemy behind you: a ghostly hand reaches up from the bottom of the screen, giving you time to dodge away or spin and shoot.

The story isn't anything to get excited about (BBEG plans world domination, so you go around destroying artifacts that would facilitate said rise to power) and in fact has several even weaker points, but the gameplay is fun and there are numerous puzzles and collectibles along the way (very few of which we collected because evidently we're really bad at that?). Oh, and it's coop, which is entirely the reason I played it. All in all it's a really fun third person 1930s action adventure and made me wish there was more, even after the DLC missions.

• the right way to play is to put it on extreme and max enemies, & you'll have lots of fun 😄
• definitely recommended to play it on coop rather than solo
• the price is too high (not worth of $57 cad as of this writing imo), so wait when it goes to a timely sale that goes up to 95% off
