In my case, I was so excited during each fight at the time, I really didn't pay much attention to the background music. All my attention was spent on listening to the sound effect when the two swords meet. A high clinking or clanking sound means that I have achieved a perfect parry / deflect. Oh, and sparks fly everywhere. At the same time, I had to learn to maintain a certain rhythm as this is what this game is about, rhythm and perfect parry.
My final suggestion is to use 3rd party equalizer software that maybe able to lower the volume of certain frequencies. Good luck
