A few demon of hatred questions
I've already spent WAAAY more time on this boss than on any dark souls or sekiro boss
1) What do you normally do with this giant swipe? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzw9xrOvBro It has more active frames than dash has i-frames, cannot be outranged due to follow up, kills on hit, is unblockable, deals huge damage and burn when deflected and worst of all, its trigger zone overlaps with fireball trigger zone and their startup animations are pretty similar so every time DoH jumps away and you have to run closer you should take a guess whether he will use fireball or this swipe and, in case of latter, are you close enough to run under it because usually its a matter of pixels
2) How do you get him out of the corner, especially the gate area? Even if its possible to get between the boss and the wall, camera usually goes mad so its almost impossible to stand there, and being in front of boss, especially at range, is basically death
3) Just in case, can you return to him after Genichiro and Isshin, before ng+?

1) Stay in, below him or behind him. Distance is one of your worst enemies in this fight. Suzaku's Lotus Umbrella can protect you from most fire based attacks as well.

2) Is hard to bait him without putting yourself in danger, but there's a few instances where you can do so somewhat safely, like when he uses his sweeps, or the jump and slam. However, most of the time is just hoping he stays away from walls so you don't even have to try and move him away from it.

3) So long as you don't start the next cycle, you can even watch the ending sequence and still come back to fight him.

Stay ALWAYS close to his left ankle. There's a blind spot there.
When unsure you are reaching the spot, use phoenix umbrella for protection

here's my strategy:

I know about staying in, but when he jumps away, you have no choice but to approach him, and most of vids and tactics I've seen either nuke him fast enough or stun him often enough to avoid this situation, same as other RPSes and unavoidable damage. I guess without malcontent, with only 16 spirit emblems and without maxed out health you're simply too underpowered
He's tough, but do-able. I beat him without malcontent or max health, it just took a lot of dedication and learning his moves.

You can collect all the prayer beads and return, or keep picking away at him. He's one of my favourite bosses in any Fromsoft game, but he had me banging my head against the wall for longer than I care to admit.
Hate this mf, basically this is a DS boss in Sekiro, which is completely out of place here. Too much HP and just goes against Sekiro's idea of combat, offering to approach it like bosses in DS.

Defeated him once on my first playthrough and on next ones I were just cheesing him (there is easy half a minute way to defeat him, but on the first playthrough you really better overcome this struggle once).

To make the fight WAY easier you need yashariku sugar or spiritfall, mortal blade and fire-defending umbrella + maybe shichimen's ceremonial tanto to refill spirit emblems during the fight.

He's not, at all. The boss is built around sprinting and jumping, both things that can't be actively done, while doing damage, with a stamina meter. At least not without it taking WAY longer than it already does. Also, consistent attacking and deflecting can break posture for all 3 phases faster than you can do a vit deathblow, especially with sugar. Not even with how lenient something like Elden Ring is with stamina would it fit better there.

Guides can help, and that's all good if they get you through the fight, but don't depend only on the strategies others did. Evaluate the timing to sprint in on your own, and learn it just like any other timing in the game. It's a bysshe to close the distance, especially because several of his attacks do make him back up quite a bit, but there's no quick way of learning what works when you need to close the distance other than trying it on your own.

All I can do is reiterate. Stay close, no matter what, But when forced to chase, have your fire umbrella ready just in case, and particularly keep an eye out at what he's doing when in the middle distance (probably one of the worst places to be). In the worst of cases do deflect what comes your way. Fire damage will chip through, but is better than eating the whole attack raw.

Even after multiple times beating him, it's a fight that can easily end me in a single mistake, so ultimately, it's very much a Git Gud sorta deal, where you have to kinda buckle down and just let the learning process happen as you ♥♥♥♥ up a good dozen times or so.
I've just beaten him. The difference was in 1 necklace (which, surprisingly, was a a huge quality change) and that he hadn't jumped into the corner

I swear, he was designed by the same guy who put 8 swordsmans that trigger at the same time the moment you enter the fortress and who put that giant mushrooms that destroy your equipment into small arc that you have to pass through in order to progress in ds2. I thought bed of chaos is the worst fromsoftware boss, but even if it had invincible midir and manus at the area, it would be better that DoH. Idk if I will fight him at ng+, but if i will, I will just nuke him, I don't want to waste so much time on this again
the way i've always played demon of hatred is close range-medium range. i be just within reach of flailing attacks and push out when he starts swinging so he cant hit and then go in on him when he tires out. always keep him in the centre of the map since camera view is better that way. you dont need all the extra help like sugars and shield since all you need to do is learn patterns and know when to attack.

i like fighting demon of hatred since despite the 3 health bars since its got such a simply understood pattern that just makes it easy to take down. 3rd phase with malcontents ring just makes things easier but you have to use that when you think the time is right, considering it is limited use.

i remember struggling with it on my first run, was searching up how to beat it and saw how everyone was saying to use a shield but honestly i found the shield useless to me. made up my own way to defeat it and it made things simple.
