Is it possible? Has anyone tried it?

Yes, but you still take dmg, just like from blue samurai dude in ashina castle, for example.

I tried, purely because i'd rather do that than take full damage trying to dodge it.
It works, yes, but it still hurts. So its probably better and smarter to just try to run away from it.

It has elemental damage on its attack, so you can deflect it but you'll still take some chip damage like you would from fire attacks

You can even hit him with your own Mortal Draw so you both take damage.

Just go behind his back, hit him twice, than wait and watch if he's gonna do another swing, then dodge to your right, and you're golden. No need to run away or parry it.

I see. How about Isshin's, the sword saint, charged attack? like the one that sends out multiple sonic waves?

Or run behind him to punish him.

Sword Saint's attacks are actually perfectly deflectable. Yes, even giant white sonic waves.
I did it too.

Wait, what? Are you talking about the guy that sheaths his sword and does double hits? If so, you can deflect him and take no damage.

Deflecting is different from blocking.

Ichimonji double for free damage and interrupts mortal draw

They do require perfect deflects though so timing needs to be on point.

Its a simple tap tap. Hardly difficult to time. You don't even need to react to the second hit either.

Probably not wrong although I've always suspected my old PC in frame drops is killing me or my LB is wearing out again on my controller.
That being said, I eventually get every enemy type attack and moveset learned to a rather autistic degree after enough fights.

Tho with the sonic waves its more effective to sidestep/jump and sprint to him for free hits.

Speaking of the charged Iai he does: you can also jump over the horizontal slash before the vertical slash hits. (real hardcore hitbox porn when that happens) I wouldnt try that with Emma's version tho, since hers has the second slash come faster.

Second hit is that second tap requirement. If you only deflect the first hit you will take damage from the second one. I wouldnt say its hard to time right, but rather hard to realise you have to deflect both swings.

You can parry it with umbrella without taking damage
