why does sekiro even need the mortal blade?

yeah but they regrow and don't die. An immortal parasite cut with the mortal blade truly dies. But honestly I expected it to have more significance in the gameplay other than for a combat art and for deathblows lol.

None of those he stabs with kusabimaru actually die. Only mortal blade can kill the immortals.

They regenerate a few moments after unless killed with the mortal blade.

Yeah we know it does but the OP is saying that Wolf doesn't even use the mortal blade when doing those deathblows on the centipedes he uses his basic sword instead.

He does if you DB them again after they die. Even the normal ones around Senpou can be fully killed with the Mortal Blade after they die normally. They still respawn though which is kinda weird.

He does use the Mortal Blade though, when you do the second deathblow that actually kills them. Though it’s odd that he doesn’t just use it for first deathblow.

I think it's because even though the Mortal Blade is a story element, you can obtain it at different points in the game because of the non-linear objectives after the Ashina Castle segment. So the only "mandatory" Mortal Blade moments are in the final act of the game
