Does anyone know how to handle those Mibu Villagers that came out from the ground and grab you?

Even though having spent over 400 hours with this game, I haven't found a way to handle those things that came out from the ground and grab me when I was in Mibu Village. I am most grateful if anyone can help. I mean after I am grabbed, what can I do apart from waiting for my doom? Many thanks in advance.

Time jumps carefully when stepping around the areas they are going to come out of (there's a few items around that area including a seed IIRC) and mash the triggers if you get grabbed. If you mash fast enough the grab animation is cut short and they're left in the ground in front of you for a few seconds before they go underground again. They die in like 1 hit, so once they're out is easy to deal with them.

Also, mashing the triggers on grabs is a From staple. You can try it in Souls and BB as well, it also works on those.

They only come from certain locations, which I'm pretty sure are marked (I forget how exactly, flowers or something, should be easy to see if you look for it). Just avoid those areas. If I remember right you may even be able to bait them out and avoid the grab, letting you kill them to make that area safe.

Flower beds, yeah.

You can avoid them by hopping like a madman.

I always just trigger their attack by walking up (You can tell pretty easily where they are because they always emerge from these piles of petals) and then jumping back, you don't even really need great reflexes.
Just walk up, jump back, wait for their attack animation to finish then move up to slice twice.
Then just repeat until the area is clear.

Of course, that is a lot easier if there aren't other mobs around to worry about.
