Lady Butterfly stopped all enthusiasm
Not a rant but after trying 15+ time using any and all tactics found on the webs trying to beat her I just cant feel any motivation to start the game up again, it's almost like this fight and presumably other boss fights arn't about having 'bouts' and that was the only thing i really enjoyed about this game :L

Kinda annoying I can almost enjoy From Software games, but not quite, the best parts of the game get thrown out the window periodically and I don't know why. big sad :(

I died to that ♥♥♥♥♥ way more than 15 times, one learns to parry eventually. If you dont get/understand the elation of finally beasting from software bosses, maybe it is not for you, one must be a stubborn, self hating fool. there will be bosses that will rape you worse than her, cough guardian ape cough.

If you rush in and attack her she will deflect. Usually you get in 3 attacks. She deflects all 3. First two deflects will have a higher pitch, the third will have a lower pitch. Sometimes, you can only get 2 hits in, because the lower pitch deflect comes on the second hit. In any case, listening for the lower pitch deflect is your queue to stop attacking and instead deflect ONCE in the same rythm that you attacked, because she will do an attack after the her lower pitch deflect. This will end an attack cycle.

After that, depending on what she does, you follow-up.

She can do regular follow-up attacks, you can dash out, run back at her from the side and restart an attack cycle.

She can dash back and maybe throw kunai at you - you side step while rushing towards her and begin another attack cycle.

She can try to do an unblockable attack (red sign) - you jump and then go back into attack cycle.

She can jump up on strings and either try to throw kunai at you or do an unblockale attack - when she jumps FROM her string to do either attacks, throw shuriken at her (hitting her while she is in mid air, drops her down and interrupts her), then immediately rush her and start attack cycle.

Always push her and initiate an attack cycle.

Second phase, immediately attack her before she does phantasms.

If you keep pushing her she won't have the chance to make phantasms.

If she makes phatasms, they die in one hit (or you can go between them and use a snap seed).

Ideally you want to push her just like in phase 1, but you can kill any close phantasms if they bother you.

If she detonates the phatasms, run around the arena, behind the poles, run back at her and, you guessed it, start an attack cycle, push her.

Other stuff:

When running up to her from arena entry first time, go either from left or right, behind the poles, as she will probably do a kunai throw at you.

Sometimes she starts an attack before you (usually on arena entry, or after you heal), it's a series of combos that sometimes are followed by a red sign attack (the same one you can jump). It's easy to keep dashing around her, keeping fairly close distance so that when she is done you can dart in and start an attack cycle.

Just carry on with the game, leave the memory and go back to what you were doing. She is too tough to take on when you first get access to her. Better to level up strength and vitality a bit before facing her. It's one of those things From does, you can reach her, but you shouldn't yet. I died to her like twenty times before I gave up and went back to the moder era outside the dream. She almost had me quit too.

Lady Butterly is that boss you can beat without learning her patterns all that well, you can literally mash L1 on her attacks and land parries 80% of the time while others will be blocks.

Easy way 1
At stage 1:
Attack 2x
Deflect 2x or 3x
Dodge forward or to the side and attack again (dont leave room for her)
Repeat untill she dies
At stage 2:
Attack 2x
Deflect 2x or 3x
Dodge forward or to the side and attack again (dont leave room for her)
Repeat untill she leap away and summon
run away and keep running untill all summons vanish and become homming lights, so you stay behind a pillar.

That is not really much to be done at Lady Butterfly other than that, dodging to the side every time she starts deflecting you or you start deflecting there, you keep up the pressure, be it with more attacks, more deflects or dodging into her to close the gap and dont leave room for her to do anything else that is not deflecting you or getting damage from your attacks (or trying to attack you so you deflect her to death).

She is fairly easy if you attack, sidestep, attack, sidestep. By doing this you confuse the ♥♥♥♥ out of her.

Also when she goes into the air use shuriken to bring her back down again for another one or two free hits.

When she goes into second phase, if you don't have the snap peas, then just run around the fight arena passing the outsides of the columns (not inside else the apparitions will hit you) until her apparitions disappear. Be careful of the butterflies after they vanish. Hide behind any column you are close to, to avoid them.

Rinse and repeat. Keep trying to bring her out into the centre of the arena so that you can do the hit and then sidestep combo. Every now and then she will do the red kanji symbol which you need to jump away from. Also she will throw her shuriken at you too and you will occasionally need to L2 those to deflect them or once again just side step them.

She will go down fairly easy if you use this approach.

Good luck and don't give up!

Yes, you are in a 100% optional area. I assume you beat the Chained Ogre? Just past him was a general, and if you take a right from there you get to the Headless Cave (and you should leave the Headless to *much* later), which I think you are talking about. Instead, head straight towards the broken bridge, and look down/left, the path forward is in the ravine.

No, you dont,m she is optional and I would say she is harder than the second mandatory boss (boss not "mini-boss).

managed to get her eventually, still not quite sure how tho, also found the path on the bridge that leads to the snek as well just by chance my targeting snapped onto the lizard there, still seems way too hidden for a main path :L

Next up is the spear miniboss.. that guy sucks

Spear mini-boss is actually easy if you do Mikiri or if you just dodge to the side and attack.
Your choice (but Mikiri makes it way faster).

yeah its so much harder than the shinobi hunter and takes too long to work through the mobs just have a 10second fight. hardest part of the game is maintaining enthusiasm if you suck like i do lol

Well, I could try to see how you play and see how you could improve (where you are doping better and where you are doing wrong and why), but you declined . . .
Dantounet May 27, 2020 @ 1:35am
im going to tell you how i did her in my 2nd try.

Be ready its gonna be very complex !

1st phase: hit her once (she block or not does not matter) then avoid her attack (will be a single strike) with side dodge, hit again, then side dodge again, hit again, dodge again and so on

You will stun lock her and probably get to second phase without being hit once.

Second phase: same technique.

Throw dagger when she tries to attack you from above.

Run away from her when she summons her ghost then hide behind a pillar when they disapear and she calls her butterflies.

Do not follow her if she dodge back. Let her attack once. Side dodge then punish her with 1 hit then dodge again if she attacks.

Basically a hit once then dodge boss.

i did manage her eventually after i ran round other areas a bit, upgraded power and gourd another level, it all worked out in the end :)

stuck on the other spear miniboss now tho, that guy sucks :(
