Why is this game so expensive in Australia
I can get a physical for $62 from Jb. Why is a digital PC version $90...

Steam uses a straight USD to AUD exchange rate and then rounds up to like the nearest $5 or something like that, the game in USD is $60 which would make it at this current time 83.96 AUD.

TL;DR steam sets their price based on the US price and JB sets their own price.

Because Australia's minimum wage is $20, thats why everything is more expensive.

Minimum wage in Australia has nothing to do with how much an overseas digital game costs...

I know they do with the main price but do the devs set up the price individually for each country or just for the most popular currencies and then steam just automatically converts?

Yeah I know, but it sucks I can get a physical edition down the road for $60 but can't find a cheap digital edition. I'd understand if the game was $90 everywhere, but the differences in prices from various stores is so frustrating.

Although it seems no one stocks the pc edition so I'll have to order that online. Guess a $30 saving is worth waiting a few days for.

Because the quality of life in Australia/NZ is extremely high.

Because JBHIFI is willing to take a haircut on the pre sales and first day prices. They probably make about 5% on their cost from the publisher as apposed to steam gouging us for 30% on top.
Sadly they sold out their allocation by Monday this week and took the option for pre sale purchase down. I'd say you wont see it on shelves at all as that's what happened with Metro Exodus

I'm not sure, but I at least know for certain the each individual dev has to price the games in AUD, and previous games can't be bought in Australia until the AUD price is set, which is why some games can't be bought anymore since some devs are too dead/lazy

edit to add some proof:
'According to Press Start, an email went out to developers earlier this week warning them that "if your games don’t have AUD prices submitted before AUD goes live, customers in Australia will no longer be able to purchase them through Steam." '

That's actually ♥♥♥♥, I'd rather steam just do an automatic conversion.
