Difficulty is average, but has 4 phases which mixes it a bit up and keeps it intresting.
And I think it's much better than in previous FromSoftware games I've played (BB and DS3) because it was disappointing to get to the games final boss only to beat him on your 1st or 2nd try.
Totally agree, Gherman is a good fight and he've made me die a couple of times (well, I didn't use Beasts Roar) but Wet Nurse and Moon Presence both felt too easy. And despite fact that I liked BB a great deal, after I beat it for the first time I was like: "Ehh, what? And that's it? Where are few hours of wiping on end game boss?". Imho, reasonably difficult final boss is important so you could feel some satisfaction and enjoyment after your beat him before watching cutscenes and final credits.
How so? Compare it to the majority of non indie games from the past 10 years and outside of stuff like Devil May Cry on the hardest settings, Souls, or Nioh, it's way more than average difficulty.
It's kinda weird though in NG+.
I'm pretty stuck at the Sword Saint right now. Not necessarily because of Isshin though. I beat Genichiro first try in both fights in NG+ but he ♥♥♥♥♥ me up badly in the Sword Saint fight. Like... I get through first phase of Isshin perfectly (no damage in pretty much all runs) but for every time I get into the spear phase I fail like 5+ times at Genichiro afterwards. So every time I get back into that phase I have lost almost all feeling for it again.
I'm aiming to get through NG+ without activating any of the memories of the second playthrough though. Maybe that's the problem for me right now. No idea how much 12 more attack would shorten these fights.
It took me one hour, encountering him on NG+ for the first time.
Seemed impossible at first, but then Ultra instinct kicked in.
Magnificent boss fight, probably the best in the game but I haven't had the second owl encounter yet.
