Why Isshin fought against you? What was his motive?
He always opposed Genichiro with his plans, then why would he fight for him even if it was his dying wish?
(Imagine fighting Isshin at his prime, he is so good in his old age xD)

He was war hungry, guess you were in his way. But why then and there and how did he pop out of Genichiro body like that is beyond me.

I never understood it since you were sipping sake together back at his room. Maybe it had something to do with Black Mortal Blade. It corrupts people. Remember when you meet Emma over Isshin's dead body. I think Genichero must of killed him with the black mortal blade which cause him to be corrupt.

It doesn't make sense either way!

Because Genichiro sacrifice himself bring Isshin back so he must answer it.
with dragon heritage's blood and power that Black Mortal Blade can bring dead people back.

isshin was brought back from the dead. he had to obey genechiro sorta like a genie. thats why he asked you to end him with the mortal blade at the end. if you listen to the rats by eavesdropping they mention that they serve genichiro. the tengu of ashina (isshin) asked you to kill them. isshin was a victim of corcumstance as it would appear. you need to defeat him but he wasnt the bad guy. what i wanna know is the back story he had with the sculptor seeing as he lopped off the sculptor's hand.

That^
He also doesn't want to beat you, which is showcased by him congratulating you closer to the end of the fight.

The whole Shura thing isn't explored enough imo...

He was honoring Genichiro's wishes basically. Genichiro went that far to try and protect Ashina that Isshin felt that he had to at least try and honor those wishes now that he has been brought back.

I don't know if you've paid enough attention, but he basically comes out of Genichiro's body. It's certainly not him imho. He is just a cursed version of him. Real Isshin was already dead when you return to Kuro's room. You fight the real one if you go for Shura's ending.
I suppose Isshin doesn't really oppose Genichiro. In fact, Ishhin does used to be the hero establishing the country but now he has accepted the fact that Ashina will be captured sooner or later and then he's interested in the pure fight itself. Maybe that's why he still goes everywhere killing purple ninjas even if he's "seriously ill" lol.
In contrast, Genichiro is the guy who's always tring to save the country despite the severe side-effect of acquiring immortal power.

Shura is the Japanese way of saying Asura. In Hinduism Asura are divine like beings whose main trait is craving power. In fact power is quantified by "Asuras". So it can being a being who craves power or a adjective for power. Can be either good or evil.

In Buddhism Asura are beings of the Desire Realm, and are personifications of sin. An Asura is obsessed with violence and conflict. So when they say you are becoming Shura, they mean Asura in the Buddhism sense I believe. As these guys are most certainly evil, or more appropriately (in Buddhism sense) unable to gain Enlightenment.

I don't think you know what a "rat" is.
"Rats" are every single enemy that works for the Interior Ministry.

I honestly think Isshin wasn't "evil" at all when he fights you at the end, he just wanted one last kickass fight before he died. A one-man army known as a "Single-minded killing machine of a man" probably didn't want to pass away from old age, he wanted to die with a sword in his hand, fighting a worthy opponent.
