Sadly people see it as gating as in keeping players out instead of being on the same level as others. I even doubt everyone whining is just bad, it's just they don't want to bother actually getting good.
Like that one fella who was stuck a Genichiro a few days ago or so was utterly and totally raging completely about the fact he was stuck there.
He was stuck for an hour initially which was already too much for him. Patience is a virtue and everyone will overcome the challenges if they keep going i bet.
Most just don't have the patience for it which is why they request an easy mode so they don't have to git gud.
At least that's how i see it.
I think some of these people lack the motor skills. Some lack the focus and temperament. A lot of these complainers couldn't care less about the game. Its the flavor of the day push button topic. They'll be gone in a week. They accuse us of being elitist when we aren't. The accusation is laughable because so many of them think there is a club to join with a secret handshake and they want into that non-existent fraternity. We love a challenge. Someone posted that the bosses were an obstacle to his completing the game. They do not understand the bosses ARE the game. Make it fair...but make it brutal. And certain gamers love this. Its why they are always trying to one up each other in these titles.
There is a difference between talent and skill.
No you can learn them. A lot of endurance is learning what affects you endurance. Like your mindset. Ask yourself why you are playing this game. Find away to adjust your approach. It can be learned and improved.
Sekiro is their first game with a really, really good combat. Dark Souls have interesting lore, atmosphere, level and character design, but the combat was the weaker part of the series.
They are like a second language. They falter from lack of use.
my friend is a good example, my friend can't jump across 1st hole in FC Super Mario.
i'm not kidding.
But everyone has something to sharpen. Who is to say your limit.
That said, because some people refuse to learn, some people do not have the patience, and mainly because they do not really love these games - its a fad for them, this game is not meant for them. They should just move on.
Impossible to take seriously.
I don't know about trolls but salt is dealt with some hillariousness and a couple of friends to roast you for sucking. Plus, AFIAK most people don't really come to the forums to spill their salt (by most I'm talking about most people actually playing the game, where the few that do come by are indeed just that... a few).
As far as the philosophy on game design goes I'm all for it. I wouldn't really care if an easy mode was added, but I'm of the mentality that I'm the player, not the designer. I play the thing and can be critical of it, but I don't make the choices so I'd much rather leave them to the people that do and stop pretending I have any control over it. Which leads me to the simple understanding that, no this game doesn't need an easier difficulty and neither do the Souls or BB,
As for people complaining, here's the thing: if you don't have time for your hobby you make it, if you can’t because of obligations you use what little you have to enjoy the games that you like, if there are many games that you like you stop being a child, pick one and stick with it until you beat it or get bored, if you don't have the money or aren't sure about enjoying the game you don't pay full retail price, also stop being a child and wait for a better instance to buy it, and if you already committed to buying it and playing it and you can’t refund it you simply practice little by little until you become better.
The excuse of skill level is just that, an excuse. When I first played Dark Souls I spend 6 hours just trying to reach the Taurus Demon. Those were 2 entire sessions of me struggling with the most basic of enemies and not advancing anything. Now I can get to Taurus in less than 15 minutes without dying once. I’m not a talented player, I come from turn-based RPGs, and everything I can now do in these games I owe to hundreds of hours of simply letting go and getting back up. I also have a pretty significant sight disability with my crystalline lenses having been removed from both eyes and them being unable to focus properly (my glasses are quite thick and they don’t make up for all the slack left by those missing lenses), and on top of that I suffer from chronic depression and consider myself to be quite thin skinned, easily moved, bothered and hurt. And guess what? I handled all my ♥♥♥♥, got through the games, and did it all for one simple reason, I wanted to.
If people want to complain, let them complain. If they want an easy mode, let them ask for it. We lose nothing on it and the designers of these great games won’t bow down to the demands of a few to go against their own design philosophy and principles. And if you happen to be one of the people who believe this game should be easier I have a simple question for you: why are you so afraid of making mistakes and failing?
